Mr Brendan
This term we have been focusing on Informative Writing. We have been looking at informative texts and how they are structured. This past week we have been writing our own informative texts about an animal of our choice using the subheadings of classification, diet, habitat and appearance. We've also had a big focus on topic specific vocabulary.
This week we were talking about Baptism as one of the Sacraments of Initiation. We also looked into the symbolism and importance of water. We learnt about Jesus's baptism and some students shared things about their own Baptisms by bringing in their candles, photos and stoles. In the coming weeks we will begin our preparations for First Eucharist in June. Fr Chinua will be visiting all Year 4s on Wednesday 28th June.
This week we have been learning about the pollution problem in our oceans. We were learning to generate solutions to help solve this problem.
The class: brainstormed different items made from plastic ordered plastic rubbish based on how long it takes to biodegrade in the ocean
shared alternatives to single-use plastic and brainstormed ideas for reducing the amount of plastic in our oceans
We also asked:
Why is it important to protect our oceans and rainforests?
