VCE Vocational Major

Year 11 Numeracy – Class Picnic Excursion
At the end of Term 1 the Year 11 VCE VM class completed Area of Study 1 by organising a class event. The students planned a class picnic organising a local location, directions, food and activities along with a risk assessment for the excursion.
The students class picnic was held at Kings Park. They organised and cooked a BBQ of sausages in bread and also had fruit salad and biscuits for dessert. The activity of the day was football with all students getting involved in the activities. Well done to the class on working together to successfully complete the project and attend the excursion.
This term the students have moved onto Shape and Quantity and Measurements where the students are now completing a scale drawing of the classroom before they look at product packaging design, building bridges and constructing picnic tables.
Year 11 and 12 – Melbourne Museum Road to Zero Excursion
By Angela Klein... ‘On 1st April, VM Year 12 and 11 students went on an excursion to Melbourne Museum to learn about Road To Zero. Road To Zero is a vision for achieving zero roadway deaths and severe road accidents by 2050.
The Year 12 VM students went through an interactive experience where we learnt about different advances in technology to reduce road trauma and the second session was conducting experiments with different speed and weather conditions for cars. Learning about how long it would take a vehicle to stop travelling at different speeds in different conditions. I learnt how to be more safe on the roads.’
The Year 11 VM students also completed the Road to Zero interactive experience but their class session was about advertising to promote road safety.
Cooking – Anzac Day Biscuits
The Year 11 and 12 VCE VM students completed an Anzac Biscuit Bake off on April 24. Students were randomly given a different recipe to cook, based on the changes of Anzac biscuit recipes over the years. Students were surprised to find that some biscuits contained no oats but instead included other elements such as cinnamon, dates and in some cases even egg! All the biscuits were different and it was great to look at the change in the recipe over time.
