LEST WE FORGET

BY ANDREW WARE (DEPUTY HEAD OF SECONDARY)

Last Thursday our school community gathered for our annual ANZAC Service to honour the courage and sacrifice of those who have served our nation. 2025 marks 110 years since the Gallipoli landings, 80 years since the end of the Second World War, and a number of other key events in our military history. This year we also considered the impact on those at home with a segment on 'Letters to Loved Ones'.

Thank you to the parents and families who attended and supported this important occasion. Your presence helped make the service especially meaningful.

Also thanks to the Primary and Secondary school leaders, other students and staff who participated in the ceremony. Your involvement, whether through readings, music, or laying wreaths, demonstrated the true spirit of remembrance. It was also very special having our youngest students, Preps and Year 1s, laying poppies in commemoration of the soldiers who have served in so many different conflicts.

We are also very grateful to Mr Fred Schmager, President of the Upwey-Belgrave RSL, for joining us and sharing in our commemoration.

As always a big thank-you to Mrs Joy McGrath, who continues to put so much time and energy into ensuring the success and significance of our ANZAC Service.

Lest We Forget.
