THE HOPE & JOY OF EASTER

BY IVAN SESKIS (DEPUTY PRINCIPAL)

“So with you: Now is your time of grief, but I will see you again and you will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy.” – John 16:22

Easter may have passed on the calendar, but its message continues in the life of our school. What a joy it has been to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus together, remembering the moment that despair turned into hope and sorrow into joy.

After Jesus’ crucifixion, His disciples were broken, confused, afraid, and hiding behind locked doors. They had placed all their hope in Him, and now it seemed like the story had ended in darkness. But then came the morning. The stone was rolled away. Jesus stood among them again, not defeated but alive.

Like a long, cold winter finally giving way to spring. Hope, joy, and life grow and flourish.

Here at Belgrave Heights Christian School, this same resurrection hope is what we want to share. Jesus is alive, and because He is alive, we have a living hope.

I really like the poem by Annie Johnson Flint, The Way Of The Cross. It reminds me to move into the joy of Easter, not stop at the sorrow of Easter. To actually live in the light, not just think about it. To be led by God in my daily life. To live in the hope and joy that His resurrection and grace bring.

The Way Of The Cross - Annie Johnson Flint

Some of us stay at the Cross,

Some of us wait at the tomb,

Quickened and raised with Christ

Yet lingering still in the gloom.

Some of us bide at the Passover Feast

With Pentecost all unknown:

The triumphs of grace in the heavenly place

That our Lord has made our own.

If Christ who had died had stopped at the Cross,

His work had been incomplete.

If Christ who was buried had stayed in the tomb,

He had only known defeat.

But the Way of the Cross never stops at the Cross,

And the way of the tomb leads on

To victorious Grace in the heavenly place,

Where the Risen Lord has gone.

May God continue to guide your families, strengthen your faith, and fill your hearts with joy and peace.
