Dear Parents and Carers,
I trust you are well and enjoying the beautiful Autumn colours which surround us in the Highlands at this time of year.
Today marks one of the most loved events in our school calendar, our Mother's Day Morning Tea. We were proud and delighted to host almost 200 mothers, grandmothers and mother figures this year, our largest gathering to date. I was privileged to welcome those who joined us, and I share with you below my words of welcome, appreciation and gratitude.
Good morning and welcome to all mothers, grandmothers and mother figures, to the Chevalier College Mother's Day Morning Tea.
It is a fitting occasion to celebrate the incredible women who have shaped the lives of their children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, with your love, compassion, and unwavering support. Today, we gather to honour the mothers and grandmothers who have dedicated themselves to the noble calling of motherhood, a role that is both challenging and profoundly rewarding.
From what I notice as a husband, motherhood is a journey filled with countless moments of joy, regular sacrifice, and it requires much needed resilience. It is also a role that requires immense strength, an incredible amount of patience, and an endless capacity for love. Mothers are the heart of the family, the ones who nurture and guide us, who teach us the values that shape our character and our lives. You are our first teachers, your child’s confidants, and their biggest supporters.
At Chevalier College, we are guided by the MSC values of compassion and kindness. These values are embodied in the daily lives of mothers, who demonstrate those same values through their actions and their unwavering commitment to their families. Compassion is seen in the way mothers care for their children, offering comfort and understanding in times of need. Kindness is evident in the countless acts of selflessness that mothers perform, often without recognition or thanks. These values are not just ideals; they are lived experiences that shape the lives of those around them.
As we gather in the month of May, we are reminded of the special significance this month holds in the Catholic Church. May is dedicated to Mary, our Good Mother, who is a model of faith, humility, and maternal love. Mary’s example inspires us to reflect on the profound impact that mothers have on our lives. Her unwavering faith and devotion are a testament to the strength and grace that mothers embody. Just as Mary nurtured and guided Jesus, mothers today continue to nurture and guide their children.
Today, we celebrate not only the mothers and grandmothers present with us but also those who are no longer with us. Their legacy lives on in the values they have instilled in us, and the love they have shared. Let us take this opportunity to express our deepest gratitude for their sacrifices, their love, and their unwavering support.
To all mothers and grandmothers, thank you for your incredible contributions to the lives of your children, and our community. Your love and dedication are truly the foundation upon which we build our futures. May you continue to be blessed with strength, joy, and the knowledge that you are deeply appreciated and loved.
Happy Mother's Day! May you be well and truly spoilt!

The NSW School Vaccination Program will be visiting the College for Year 7 vaccinations on Monday 12 May.
Year 7 students are offered a single dose vaccine for diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (whooping cough) and a single dose vaccine for human papillomavirus (HPV).
Vaccination will only be given at school if parental/guardian consent has been received. Please provide online vaccination consent for your child using this link. You must have a Service NSW account and a Medicare card to log in.
Should you require further information, please read the NSW School Vaccination Program Newsletter. For more information, please visit NSW School Vaccination Program.
We have observed an increase in parents/carers using the boom gate area at Gate 4 on Charlotte Street, the car park near McGrath Hall and the 'No Stopping' zones on Charlotte Street as drop off areas. This is causing interference with traffic flow and bus movement and poses a significant safety risk.
Thank you for helping to keep our students and community safe by following the correct traffic rules.
We are excited to welcome youth advocate and educator Daniel Principe back to the College on Monday 2 June. Following a day engaging with our students, alongside Emma Tabacaru, through the workshop ‘Championing young people in a digital world’, Daniel will also speak to parents and carers in the evening, where he will unpack what the latest academic research reveals about how current social and cultural forces are affecting young people’s wellbeing and their relationships. Daniel will discuss what really matters to young people, and provide clarity and tools to help young people analyse and challenge the culture around them.
We strongly encourage you to come and hear from the person who will have been working with your children that day - this could also prompt important conversations at home around building respectful and empathetic relationships into adulthood.

College tote bags (for Year 11 and 12 senior students only) are now available to purchase from the Chev Shop during normal shop opening hours. The tote bags cost $40.
Reminder: the tote bag can be used instead of, or in conjunction with, the College backpack. We strongly recommend that if using the tote bag, devices should be in a case, and/or padded bag. The tote will not provide the protection for devices that the backpack does. All Year 11 students must have either the College backpack or tote bag from Week 3, Term 2.
