Foundation News

Welcome to Term 2 in Foundation! This week is our first 5 day week and we are all very excited to have this opportunity to extend our learning experiences.

Our students are already embracing the many new opportunities of this term, including our ANZAC Day service last week. We made our own poppies to wear to the service and did our best to keep them in place on a very windy day!

Our InitiaLit program is increasing in pace and we are excited to be blending sounds to read and write words! Students develop these skills in whole class, small group and independent sessions. This week we are working with the sounds: a, m, t, s, p, i.

Our Geography Studies begin this week as we start thinking about where we live, the features of our local area and our connections to these places. Did you know that the '90s Australian song, Accidentally Kelly Street inspired a picture book? We are using this wonderful story to introduce our Geography unit and inspire our learners to explore and appreciate the places that are familiar to them.

Reminders:

  • The School Nurse is visiting this week. If you haven't already completed either the online form or the paper forms sent home, please do so and return ASAP. Please see your classroom teacher if you need a new form.
  • Please regularly check your child's school bag and reader satchel for notes or work coming home.
  • Please let your child know if you have put notes in their bag that need to be handed in (or hand them directly to your teacher).
