Kinder News - Yellow Group
In Yellow Group, the children were thrilled when Max kindly bought in a deer skull for us to explore. As a group, we had so many questions and wonderings. What did the deer eat? Where did the deer live? Max asked what the colour of the deer's skin was, and James wondered if the deer had a family. Imogen suggested that the deer ate carrots, and Bailey suggested the deer ate grass. We discussed where the children thought the deer's eyes, mouth and ears would be located on the skull, and the children were very excited to see the sharp teeth attached to the mouth of the skull. We are so grateful to Max's family for sharing the deer skull with us to help extend our understanding of the world around us. We then carefully placed the skull on our nature discovery table so the children could use magnifying glasses and explore the skull in greater detail. Later in the afternoon, the children also enjoyed moving their body to different beats of an African drum and we added additional drum beats and movement activities to extend the children's learning.
We are looking forward to discovering more about our amazing world over the coming weeks.
