From the Classroom - M2 (Mrs Brown)

A day in the life of M2
M2 has made a fabulous start to Term Two. We are very busy with our learning as you will see!
We start our day by getting ready for InitiaLit. We put our folder and whiteboard on the table, then we work on fine motor activities such as using playdough. Then it's time for InitiaLit! We have been learning about the 'oa' and 'ow' digraphs. While Mrs. Brown works with a group on our Sounds and Words Book, the rest of the class does independent work such as tricky words practice, a worksheet and independent reading. We also read our Storybook. This week we are reading "The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch".
After recess we do our writing. We have been learning about how to use the 5 W's (Who, What, Where, When, Why) to write the beginning of a narrative. We use a picture to inspire us to write the 5 W's.
Then it's on to Maths! This week, we have started learning about addition and subtraction. We have been practising the counting on and counting back strategies using a number line. Over the next couple of weeks we will learn more strategies such as using doubles and known facts to solve addition and subtraction problems.
We finished our day with Visual Art with Mrs. Bleicher. We were creating pictures using different types of paper. We love how Mrs. Bleicher shows us an artwork and then we get to do our own.
Our day is done! Time to go home and rest to get ready for another day of learning tomorrow!
