Immunisations

Year 7: Thu 5 June

Year 10: Thu 26 June

Nurses from Knox Council will be attending the College in June to offer immunisations to students in Year 7 and 10. The Year 10 Immunisation session will be held onsite at Wantirna College on the above dates.

Reminder

Parents/carers of students in Year 7 and 10 must complete the electronic consent as soon as possible, regardless of whether the student is receiving vaccinations or not.

Links to more information and the immunisation consent form are posted on Compass.

Please contact Knox Immunisation services on 9298 8165 if you have any questions or concerns. Catch up immunisation sessions will be held at a later date at Knox Council, if a student is unable to attend school on their allocated immunisation day.

Pre-existing Injuries

Now that weekend sport is back in full swing, we would like to remind everyone that we are unable to diagnose, treat or manage pre-existing injuries; for example, a sore knee after playing footy or netball over the weekend.

If a student presents to the First Aid Centre with a pre-existing injury, and this injury is making it difficult for them to function at school, a parent/carer will be required to collect the student. We recommend medical follow up from a General Practitioner.

We would also like to remind all families to notify the College if their child experience a concussion outside of school hours. Please see the recommended guidelines and 'Return to School and Sport' protocols from the Royal Children’s Hospital for more information:

Flu Season is Now Upon Us

To help protect our school and the wider community, we ask that unwell students stay home. To further help reduce the spread of flu, students are encouraged to:

  • Wash and sanitise their hands regularly.

  • Avoid touching their eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Cover their nose and mouth when they cough or sneeze.

  • If unwell, stay at home until their symptoms pass.

Vaccination remains the best protection against Influenza. Flu vaccinations can be booked through GPs and pharmacies.

If your child becomes unwell while at school, parents/guardians will be contacted, and a request will be made for you to pick your child up from the First Aid Centre.

Medical Details

Lastly, please remember to notify the College if your child’s medical details need to be updated. We can be contacted during school hours via the General Office.
