YCDI
This term, the YCDI curriculum will assist students to develop resilience, independence skills and strategies in preparation for Year Two. Getting Along, Resilience and Persistence will be the foci for the term and students will be provided with opportunities to enhance and expand upon their existing skills.
Over the course of the term, students will build strong social skills and strategies to foster positive relationships with peers and continue develop their understanding of the Zones of Regulation. Students will gradually develop how to tackle challenges with a growth mindset, embracing mistakes as opportunities to learn. Additionally, they will further their independence in persisting through the Learning Pit. Students will be introduced to expectations and routines of Year Two to ensure they have a smooth transition.
To support your child’s YCDI skills at home, you could:
- Reflect on your child’s positive playtime plan and how they dealt with challenges.
- Discuss the Zones of Regulation with your child and what strategies they use. Reiterate that all zones are valid and that it is normal to feel sad, angry, happy and excited all in one day. A ‘Zones of Regulation’ chart can be found on your child’s Seesaw account. Please see their classroom teacher for further information.
- When completing home learning, encourage independence and a positive attitude when approaching tasks.
