Assistant Principal

Year 11 & 12

Congratulations to our wonderful year 12 VCE students who enjoyed a spectacular Celebrations Day last Friday. Despite the cloudy and chilly conditions, the students made the most of the day at Fun Fields.  These young adults made us all incredibly proud in the manner in which they celebrated and enjoyed this day with their friends and teachers. Their conduct was nothing short of exemplary and for many this was an emotional day, with the realization that their years of formal schooling is coming to an end. Several students I spoke with commented that they had been together with the same friends since their kindergarten years! As tradition dictates, on their last days of year 12, the school Captains provide an address to the rest of the student community, both Zoe and Xavier delivered a most heartfelt and sincere message gratitude and love for LSC.  This will stand as one of the most poignant captain speeches I have heard during my time here as Assistant Principal at Lalor. Walking back with the students after their address, was a truly remarkable experience that I will not forget. The flood of younger students who approached and embraced these two remarkable role models was astounding. Offering their congratulations and heartfelt thanks was something to behold.  Clearly, their legacy as school captains will remain strong. Their speeches will be printed in the college magazine for all to read. Congratulations.

The senior school team and myself, would like to wish our VCE students all the best of luck for their approaching exams, beginning with English on Tuesday. I am certain that our students will have confidence in their preparation and hard work to approach these next coming exams with positivity. On behalf of the wider college and all your teachers over these past six years, I would like to wish each of you our very best wishes and the best of luck for the coming exams.  We wish you great success in the paths you choose beyond Lalor Secondary College. To all our year 12 students, your growing resilience and strong spirit will place you favourably in realising your future pathways. Be sure to remain in touch with us here at LSC and keep us updated on all the wonderful opportunities that may come your way.

We will have a final formal opportunity to farewell and to indeed acknowledge the achievements of these fabulous year 12 students at this year’s Graduation Ceremony on December the 18th   when we look forward to celebrating with students and their families.

Year 11 students will have their last day of formal classes this Friday, with a period of preparation for their exams in the coming weeks. The exam period is followed by their important Orientation Program in readiness for year 12. Again, we take this opportunity to wish them well for their exams.  During their assembly last Thursday, our year 11 students were provided with detailed study techniques and strategies to assist with effective revision practices leading up to these exams. Next Thursday, Loupe will present a further session to this group, focusing on making the most of exam preparation and tips to reduce nerves and anxiety.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank parents and careers for your ongoing support of the college throughout this year. We certainly appreciate your partnering alongside us in this important educational journey for our students.
