SCHOOL OF WONDER

On the last day of Term 3 a representative from Goulburn Valley Water arrived at the college to judge the short-listed entries for this year's Water Week competition, 'Every Drop Counts.'

The winner from F-2 was:  Hannah Potter.

The winner from 3/4 was: Japji Kaur.

Congratulations to all the learners for the care and effort that was put into their beautiful creations. All the work was highly commendable.

The study of botany and horticulture always, like anything else, begins with a great sense of curiosity followed by collaborative research and the sharing of knowledge.

Continuing their inquiry topic into natural cycles and habitats Grade 1 & 2 children this week have been investigating what plants require to grow and thrive. Placing grass and bean seeds into a glass jar on a shelf with ample sunlight, the children are set to observe and record the cycle of a plant's life from budding seedling to developing plant and beyond.

Excited and full of chatter the children listed all the elements that plants need to flourish and reproduce including "...sunlight, water, shelter, care and being free from bad chemicals'.

Making the most of the inclement weather over the last few days, Lauren's class incorporated numeracy and literacy with their on-going inquiry topic by making water gauges. Louis was very keen to show his water gauge, his labelled diagram and sagely predicted that he expected another 15 inches of rain to fill his jar.

School of Wonder

Welcome back! We have an exciting, action packed Term 4 for our learners with lots of learning opportunities and many events taking place. We will continue to update you regarding upcoming events and dates as the term continues.

R U OK? Day

R U OK? encourages you to let the people you care about know you're here, to really hear them

By taking the time for an R U OK? conversation and genuinely listening with an open mind, we can all help the people in our world feel supported and connected.

Let the people in your world know you’re here, to really hear, because a conversation could change a life.

On September 14, our SOW students participated in a range of activities that encouraged the conversation around how we feel. It was great to see all staff wearing a touch of yellow in support of this message.
