Playgroup
Last week Playgroup travelled to IDHS.
It was a magical time for all. Residents were entertained by the children and the mess they created!!!! Pictures were drawn, cuddles were had, glitter was sprinkled and lots of laughter and love was shared.
Thank you Reece and his team for welcoming us, we cannot wait to come again.

Year 3
Hello to Grade 3 Parents, Carers and Community.
Well, Term 3 is almost a wrap. What a fantastic jam packed term it has been. It was an honour and privledge to see the students perform in We Will Rock You on Friday.
The students have been set goals that they have been working hard to achieve. Some are well on the way.
It is great to see how much knowledge the students have gained especially in Maths and during our Inquiry Sessions. Writing has also been a lot of fun this term learning about procedures from making Play Dohh to Blowing Bubbles.
Can you please send a jar along this week so we can do a Sustainablity activity. Thank you.
Here are some of the fun activities we will be participating in Week 10.
Mrs Torney, Classroom Teacher.
Year 8 Art
During Term 2, Year 8 Art students undertook a unit of work investigating portraiture and acrylic painting. During their investigations, the Year 8s discussed the Archibald prize, which is an Australian portraiture art prize for painting; generally seen as the most prestigious portrait prize in Australia.
Our Bald Archy prize was based on the Archibald, and is an art competition that celebrates our Year 8 students painting and portraiture skills. Year 8 Art students had to identify a personal ‘hero’ or ‘villain’ to create their own portrait of, which was then entered into the competition.
The Year 8 Art student’s Bald Archy portraits have been on display throughout Term 3 and were able to be voted on by the public. The voting categories included:
People’s Choice (the voters favourite artwork)
Most Creative (best use of skill, technique and materials)
Most Original (most interesting imagery and composition)
It was fantastic to see our students approach their paintings in a range of different styles, as well as use their acrylic painting and colour theory skills to create their portraits. Although challenging at times, many students showed resilience and determination to complete their artworks to their highest ability
Votes have been tallied and I would love you to join me in celebrating the following winners:
People’s Choice (the voters favourite artwork):
Amelia Rose
Most Creative (best use of skill, technique and materials):
Kayla Cramp
Most Original (most interesting imagery and composition):
Lucy Rollinson
Mrs Barker, Art Teacher.

Year 11 & 12
The last couple of weeks have been exciting for the VCE students who are careening closer and closer to the end of another school year and for some, the end of their schooling. It has been fantastic to watch students becoming involved in a range of school-wide activities and being such excellent role models while having lots of fun!
Book week celebrations saw all Year 12 students dressing for the occasion and participating with enthusiasm in the dress-up parade. Also, back stage muscle for the whole school production “We Will Rock You” was provided by a number of students including many VCEs. It was great to see them sending the message that, even if you’re not able to sing, act and dance, you can still make a significant contribution to the performance.
Finally, this week has been Youth Week. Each day there have been opportunities for our VCE students to get involved. Most notably, on Monday at lunchtime, the staff and Year 12 students took part in a teacher versus student netball game. Naturally, the experience and wisdom of the staff won out in the end by nearly doubling the student score (15/8) but the Year 12s put in an admirable performance against the odds. At the end of this week, Year 12 students will only have 10 more days of schooling left and they are really making the most of them. Well done to the students, Mrs Woodman and Mr G whose energy and passion have contributed to making this term fun and memorable for our students!
Mr Gretgrix, Mrs Woodman and Mrs Ritchie, Year 11 & 12 Homeroom Teachers.

PE News - Mr P and Miss Milne
Staff Versus Year 12 Students Netball Match
On our last Monday for Term 3, we had our Staff versus Student Netball Match. It was a fun game with the Year 12’s proving themselves to be quite the challengers for the staff. The staff however did come away as the victors defeating the Year 12’s 15 to 8. Big thank you to Joan and Libby for umpiring the game and the students who came along to watch.
Mr P’s Secondary Student of the Fortnight is: Jordan Ball. Jordan’s participation over the past few weeks in badminton has been fantastic. It was great to see Jordan actively engaging and even working up a sweat during our tournament to finish off the unit. Jordan’s engagement in the school gym at lunch time has been really positive too. He has shown that he is really enthusiastic about his program and is willing to improve by asking questions. Jordan has shown maturity by being responsible using the space also. Well Done, Jordan!
Miss M’s Primary PE Student of the Fortnight is: Brax Noordennen. Brax always plays by the rules and advocates to others that they also need to do so. He always participates within PE to the best of his ability and is always wanting to improve. Well done, Brax!
2024 Year 7 Transition
On Monday September 4, the College held the first of three Transition days. Students from Wedderburn College, Inglewood Primary School and St Mary’s Primary School participated in a half-day of fun, in Art, Digital and Science. We look forward to having our next full day Transition on 17 October!
Parent Feedback on Semester Reports
LAST CHANCE
This is the last chance for parents to give us feedback on our current Semester Reports.
The school gives parents two written reports each year. One at the end of each semester.
They are one of two ways we give you formal feedback on your child’s performance. The other being Learning Conversations.
The current reports may not be providing you with the information you desire.
They may be too complicated to understand?
Here is your opportunity to provide us feedback on the reports.
The College leadership and staff will be investigating our current report formats and processes next term, with a view to making changes in 2024.
Please click on the link below and give your feedback, in a 5 minute survey.

Homework Club
Homework Club is held each Tuesday and Thursday at lunchtime in Room 11, students can drop in and work in a quiet, warm space. They can work independently or get help as required. As this is a voluntary program designed to give students an opportunity to catch up, own their learning, or get ahead, Homework Club is a chance for students to demonstrate our core values of Responsibility and Resilience.
Compass
Don't wait for the end of semester to view your child's progress. Log in to Compass and view teacher feedback and feed forward at any time by checking out your child's Learning Tasks. Children also receive regular (every 5 weeks) progress reports on their Organisation, Behaviour, Attitude to Learning and Work Completion.
