Year 12 VM PDS

Throughout Term 3, our Year 12 VM students have been working towards improving their physical fitness, specifically in preparation for an adventurous journey. This experience will take place in the Great Otway National Park at Lorne / Cumberland River, where a series of scenic hiking trails enable students to connect with the natural environment, which is important for both physical health and mental wellbeing. Along the way, students will be faced with various obstacles and challenges, each of which provide opportunities to apply and further develop skills in teamwork, leadership, planning, organisation, problem solving and resilience.

Over the past ten weeks, students have designed and implemented a progressive exercise program to improve both cardiovascular fitness and muscular endurance. This involved gradually increasing the duration and intensity of their school-based workouts and visits to Anytime Fitness, followed by a series of practice-hikes along Hovells Creek Trail (3km), You Yangs Big Rock Circuit and Flinders Peak Walk (4.5km), and the Queenscliff Lighthouse Trail (6km).
