Spring School Holiday Reccos!

Northern Bendigo Landcare Group are holding a “Cruise The Creek” event along Bendigo Creek in the Huntly Streamside Reserve this Sunday 17 September, 10am-2pm. It is a free, family-friendly event and with the weather looking to be 25 it will be a great day out in the sunshine!

Participants can complete the full route (5km) or part thereof at their leisure on the gravel reserve track suitable for walking and cycling. 

Bendigo Creek habitat restoration has been NBLG's major on-ground project over the past 15 years and they look forward to sharing it with the community.

Parking is available at the Huntly Streamside Reserve picnic area on Leans Rd Huntly, toilets provided enroute, free BBQ and refreshment station with birthday cupcakes ! BYO walking shoes, bike (helmets essential) and drink bottle.

Reccos for Term 4

If you love international flavours, world music & cultural performance, and outdoor event vibes get ready for Bendigo’s popular Zinda Multicultural Festival.

The day will start with a welcome to country and smoking ceremony to pay our respects to the Traditional custodians of these lands we now call home: the Dja Dja Wurrung, Taungurung, Torta Torta, Wurundjeri, Woi Wurrung and Barapa Barapa Peoples. There will be performances by the Chinese Lion Dancers, Bollywood costume and dance, Hazaragi Poetry, Karen bamboo dance, Navid Forogh (Afghan Star winner), Son Cuba, Indonesian gamelan music and South Sudanese story & song of life and more. 

Plenty of options for the young and young at heart also, so look out for henna art, hair braiding, an interactive circus, face painting, the VFR fire truck, Victoria Police highway patrol, African drummingworkshop and more. There will also be a creative corridor which will be filled with unique treasuresfor purchase. Traditional Afghan and Karen clothing, Sisterworks crafts & arts, Murnong Mamasspices and native goods, White Nile Craft Group and Bendigo Food Share fresh local produce stall.

There will be mouth-watering cuisines by Konjo Mamma, Jas’s Indian Kitchen, Himalaya Tibetan Food Truck, Nor Tea Bubble Tea, Icecream Republic, Fresh Tandori, Pogo Espresso, Saccha Sugar Cane Juice & Karen Kitchen to tempt your tastebuds.

Did You Know? 

The school no longer has a lost property bin!

Make sure your children's clothes, lunch boxes and drink bottles are labelled well and teach your child/children (if you can!) to do a quick check to make sure they have thier belongings on pick up. Please also make sure that you don't accidentally end up with items that don't belong to your family. 

The 2nd hand uniform shop is open on Fridays.

New Recycling Schemes

The council is running a couple of new recycling schemes - you can now drop off textile waste and soft plastics at the Eaglehawk Recycling Centre.  It's super easy you can drop into the Tip Shop afterwards!  Here is some information:

Textiles

You can drop off: Clothes, pillows and doonas, linen, towels, paired shoes.

You can't drop off: Swimwear and underwear, backpacks, mattresses and mattress protectors, curtains (with hooks and eyelets)
