New Saints

On 7 September 2025, Pope Leo XIV canonised Sts. Pier Giorgio Frassati and Carlo Acutis, drawing over 80,000 faithful to St Peter’s Square. Calling them models for young people, the Pope urged all not to waste life but to follow God’s plan, describing their holiness as a “simple but winning formula.” He highlighted Pier Giorgio’s deep faith, service to the poor, and civic engagement, and Carlo’s devotion to the Eucharist, prayer, and integration of faith with everyday life.

Both saints, though dying young—Frassati at 24 (1925) and Acutis at 15 (2006) —remained steadfast in love and trust in God. Their families and communities participated in the liturgy, with Carlo’s siblings and parents presenting the offertory gifts. The Pope stressed that sainthood begins with a youthful “yes” to God and is lived through small, daily acts of holiness. Concluding, he called for continued prayer for peace, especially in the Holy Land and Ukraine.

Australia's Saint

The staff of Trinity were very lucky to visit the Mary MacKillop Heritage Centre in East Melbourne during our faith formation day on Friday, the 29th of August. We discussed the life and virtues of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop and explored her famous saying: “Never see a need without doing something about it.”

We commend Tam for taking this saying to heart and cutting her hair for charity later this month. Good luck, Tam!
