Last Term!

We had a busy end to Term 3! Here are some pictures from our excursion to Myuna Farm and our last day of school dress up for Footy Day.

📖 Literacy

In Word Work, we have been busy building our reading and writing skills. Students will practise reading and encoding words using all our alphabet sounds, as well as digraphs such as ai, ay, ee, ea, igh, oa, oe, ar, or, aw, er, ir, and ur.

In our Knowledge Rich lessons, we have been learning about kings and queens. Our focus has been on understanding their role, the royal family, and enjoying a range of historical royal stories such as ‘King Midas and the Golden Touch’, ‘The Princess and the Pea’, and ‘Cinderella’. Following this unit, we will move on to exploring a range of picture storybooks and developing our understanding of story structure. Finally, we will explore the Little People, Big Dreams series of books and learn about some great people in history and how they have changed the world.

In sentence-level writing, students are learning how to recognise complete sentences and fragments. This week, the Preps have discovered that every sentence needs a noun and a verb, and they have been working hard to spot them in example sentences.

➗ Maths

This week we have started our Data unit and learnt to sort, display, and discuss data. This Term, we will revisit our Location unit, counting and place value, and finish the year with Measurement, focusing on length, capacity, mass, and time.

Wellbeing

This term in Wellbeing, students will be learning about how to solve problems. They will explore the difference between big and small problems and share ideas on how they can work through and solve them.

The students have had a lot of fun exploring our new Curious Corner space.
