Foundation Classroom News

What a fantastic fortnight the Foundation students have had!  It's been fun and a bit exhausting too...:-)

Twisted Science Excursion

Wow! What a fantastic place to explore and have fun!

The Foundation, Grade 1 and 2 students visited Twisted Science in Echuca on the 29th of August.  We got to travel in the mini bus and had so much fun pointing out where we lived and what we recognised around Tongala and Echuca.

At Twisted Science we got to learn about friction.  We had a workshop with Chris and learnt about push and pull forces, static electricity and how magnets work.  It was so much fun!

We then got to play with all the science activities in the main area.  It was fantastic!

After all our fun at Twisted Science, we headed off to Apex Park to have some food and have a play.  This was awesome too!

Inquiry

In investigations this fortnight, we have been testing the properties of various materials in preparation for building our bridges that will be strong enough to support our clay goats. We experimented with aluminum foil, and found out that it can rip easily and it is not strong enough to hold up a bridge.  However, we did get creative and made crowns, stars, monsters and lots of other things.  Here are some photos.

Athletics Day

It was so pleasing to see all of our Foundation students having a go at all events this Wednesday.  There were lots of smiles and giggles as they completed the activities, but boy were we tired at the end of the day!!

Hockey Clinics

We have been so sporty and active this fortnight!  We have also been learning how to play hockey.  The students have learnt how to hold a hockey stick, and how to dribble and pass the ball.  We might have some hockey super stars in the future!

Goodbye Miss Reid

Unfortunately we also had to say goodbye to Miss Reid yesterday.  Miss Reid has been completing her final student teaching placement in the Foundation classroom.  She is a fantastic teacher and we wish her the very best in her teaching career. We know you will be awesome!  Thank you for the presents too Miss Reid!
