What a big fortnight at TPS!

Mr Hogan

Another very busy fortnight at our great school. We have held our School House Athletics and celebrated Fathers Day in style. Our F-2 students attended Twisted Science and we were lucky enough to have the Super Science Circus Show visit our school. All of this, as well as Girls Empowered, Hands on learning and Ronny and Friends adventures leads to a busy past 14 days.

Attitude to School Survey

Every year our Grade 4-6 students complete the Attitude to School Survey. This survey provides us feedback across a lot of areas of the school, from classroom learning, wellbeing concerns and individual learning.

Our results this year are amazing. This year see many of our results either at or above the state average, which is always a very high benchmark.

98% of our student are saying that the teachers expect our students to learn at a high level. This is evident in our outstanding academic improvements this year and a credit to our teachers.

Other outstanding results include:

Stimulated learning - well above state benchmarks at 85% and an increase of 10% on last years data.

Effective teaching - above state benchmark data at 88%.

Managing bullying - above state benchmarks at 78%. This is an indication that our students feel they are safe and issues are dealt with appropriately.

Transitions - 100%, whereas the state benchmark is at 79%. We have built strong relationships with our feeder schools and developed a strong induction program for our new students, which is obviously beneficial.

Overall we were at or above state benchmarks in 14 out of 19 areas assessed as part of the survey, which is extremely encouraging.

As a sign of thanks to the students for providing us with such rich feedback, we will all be celebrating with some hot chips next Wednesday.

Grade 2 Camp

Our Grade 2 students head to Pioneer Settlement in Swan Hill next Thursday and Friday, for their overnight camp.

This will be a fantastic experience for our students, as they take part in a range of olden day activities, and attend the evening sound and light show.

Thank you to Miss Brereton and Brett for supporting our students at camp, and to Mrs Cardillo, who will make the trek up to Swan Hill to spend the evening with our campers. We look forward to hearing their adventures.

House Athletics

What a fantastic day of competition we had at our Athletics Sports on Wednesday. Again, the competition was red hot and our students tried their best in all events.

There were some outstanding achievements throughout the day and our winners will be acknowledged at our next assembly.

Well done to all competitors, and a big thank you to Mrs Young who did an incredible job in organising such a fantastic day.

End of term organisation

The final day of term, Friday 19th September, is sure to be full of fun, and footy! It is our annual Footy Colours Day, where all students will be decked out in their favourite football gear.

On this day, we will have some local stars running football and netball clinics, and a friendly soccer game as well.

This will all be topped off with a special Hot Dog lunch from our Parents and Friends.

School Fete

Our bi-annual school fete will be happening on Friday, November7th.

The Fete committee have got the wheels moving for the Fete but we still need helpers. If anyone would like to be involved, please speak to Cherish Todd or Karen in the office.

Our School Fete is our major fundraiser for the year, so any help to make this a fantastic evening will be greatly appreciated.

Have a great weekend everyone!
