It has been such a great month in P.E classes for all year levels. The way in which students are adapting the new school values of ‘Respect, Responsibility, Resilient, Safe’ has been the most pleasing aspect.
Junior School
Students have continued to practise the fundamentals movements skills of jumping, hopping, dodging and balancing in active play and minor games. Students have also focused on personal safety in relation to game rules, game boundaries and safe use of equipment.
Middle School
Students have been working on the skills associated with the Athletics events of shot put, discus, long jump, high jump, hurdles and sprinting. They have completed modified skills based activities prior to having a go using the real equipment. Students have also worked hard on their teamwork and communication skills through various games.
Senior School
Students have been getting ready for the House Athletics carnival completing both field and track events. They have been asked to link skills and techniques used in these events to other sports. Students have also completed a self assessment on the Athletics unit. Teamwork, communication and strategic thinking have also been touched on in fun cooperative challenges.
House Cross Country
On Friday 27th February we had our House Cross Country. Thankfully the weather cleared up by the morning and the storm clouds went around us.
It was without a doubt one of the best events I have been part of at C.S.P.S. Simply put when students, staff, volunteers and parents work together great things happen.
To see all the students give it a go was remarkable - they all tried their best.
In particular our Prep students who participated in their first House event and they literally took it all in their stride.
The carnival acted as selection trials for our older students. Congratulations to the following students who have progressed to the District carnival.
9/10 year boys - Charlie, Kobe, Mav, Blair, Caleb, Austin, Harry, Remy
9/10 year girls - Billie, Ava, Lera, Sienna, Sophie, Sofia, Tilly, Amari

12/13 year girls - Nellie, Lena, Chelsea, Isabelle, Emma, Ebony, Maddison
The students earnt valuable house points throughout both the Year 3 to 6 event and the Junior event with the points being combined as follows:
1st - Baany with 262 points
2nd - Munmut with 245 points
3rd - Wiiny with 244 points
4th - Biik with 235 points
A massive thank you to our amazing volunteers who acted as course marshals - the event would not have run as smoothly without you.
Finally the biggest thank you to Mr Corcoran who did a massive amount of work before the event filling bunny holes, marking lines and then the huge set up and pack up on the day!
House Athletics - Year 4, 5 & 6
On Tuesday 17th March we held our very first athletics carnival at Ballam Park. Needless to say it was a fantastic experience for all of the students. The weather even played nice and it turned out to be the perfect day.
The excitement of running on a real track was next level - the students channelled their inner Usain Bolt when sprinting. The way in which they encouraged each other was the most pleasing aspect. Every student gave it their all and should be very proud of their efforts.
Some highlights included:
Miss Conlan running the Discus rotation like she was a DJ, by far the loudest every time.
Mr Wade taking on one of our year 8 past students in a 100m sprint - who knew he was that fast!
Mr Meade, Mr Wade and two parents Jodie and Emma joined forces in the relay team to verse the students - thankfully no hamstrings were torn.
Big thanks to the wonderful parent volunteers and our year 8 helpers from Cranbourne West Secondary College who made the event run so smoothly.
Throughout the day students were earning valuable house points through participation and results in events.
1st - Baany
2nd - Munmut
3rd - Biik
4th - Wiiny
Congratulations to Baany who took out House Athletics - they have done the double having already been crowned Cross Country champions.
Well done to our 37 students who have qualified for the District Athletics carnival which will take place next term.
Safe to say the carnival will become a regular favourite on the calendar for many years to come.
A.F.L. Auskick Clinics - Year 1 & Year 2
Our year 1 and year 2 students were lucky enough to have members of the A.F.L Victoria team come out and run an Auskick clinic for their subschool sport.
The students loved learning new skills.
For more information about local Auskick clinics head to the website:
Upcoming Events:
Tuesday 31st March - District Cross Country (qualifying students only)
Monday 20th April to Friday 24th April - Middle School Swimming Program (Year 3 and Year 4)
Wednesday 13th May - District Athletics (qualifying students only)
Junior School
Students have been enjoying getting back into Music or having their first experience in Prep.
They have been learning about a steady beat and the difference between beat and rhythm. Using the percussion and melodic instruments are always the favourite!
Middle School
Student have been learning how to play the Ukulele and revising their understanding of beat and rhythm through movement, songs and the playing of boom whackers!
Senior School
Due to Naplan, students haven't been able to complete their bucket drumming unit but we have instead focused on cup drumming and the use of melodic instruments. Students have particularly enjoyed using the boom whackers and were extremely competitive with the 'apple game' where they had to pass the apples around the circle to the beat whilst singing the Apple Tree song.
Over the past month, students across the school have been actively engaged in building their social wellbeing skills through a range of meaningful and age-appropriate activities.
Students in Years 1–4 have been exploring the Zones of Regulation, developing their understanding of emotions and how these connect to their behaviour. In the junior years, the focus has been on naming emotions and recognising basic external body signals, while middle years students have extended this by identifying both external and internal (interoception) body signals.
Our senior students have been engaging in thoughtful discussions about how unexpected responses to situations can impact others and their learning. They have also been developing a deeper understanding of what constitutes expected and unexpected behaviours, and how to respond more positively in different situations.
In Foundation, students have been learning to recognise and express emotions through storytelling and dance, building early awareness in a creative and engaging way.
Across the school, classes have been participating in and will continue activities connected to Harmony Day, which coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination (IDERD). These experiences promote inclusion, respect, and a celebration of diversity within our community.
Looking ahead, Wednesday 25 March marks Orange Day, where students are invited to wear orange or their full school uniform. On Friday, we will celebrate our first Murrup Day for the year. Students may wear purple or full school uniform and will take part in a range of activities with their buddy classes, exploring our new school values and what they mean in action.
It has been wonderful to see students developing their emotional awareness, empathy, and connection with others throughout these experiences.
This term in STEM has wrapped up with the kids launching rocket and racing bobsleds. The Year 3/4 classes have all successfully launched water rockets while exploring force and motion.
The Year 5/6 classes have had a go at building mini bobsleds that have raced down a hot wheels track. While most made it to the bottom of the track, only a few were able to make it with driver and passenger in one piece. Everyone had a great time designing, building and testing their creations and the final races were quite interesting to say the least.
