Physical Education

In our Health and PE sessions over the past few weeks we have been focusing on developing our skipping skills, cricket skills and tennis skills. It has been wonderful to observe great growth in students skills, confidence and team work!
We have shared some good discussions about both the effects and benefits of physical activity. As part of our Health focus students have also explored the strategies that can be used, as well as the resources that can be accessed, to assist with growth and change.
Next Friday 5th September our Grade 3-6 students will attend the District Cricket and Tennis Sports day at Wesley Hill Recreation Reserve and Castlemaine Lawn Tennis Club. We are looking forward to a day of participation, fun, teamwork and skill development.
In addition to practising our striking skills with cricket and tennis based activities and our skipping skills, our Grade F/1/2 students have been enjoying some more dance sessions this term. They are looking forward to performing a special dance at their upcoming assembly!
We had some wet weather this week but it didn’t dampen our spirits – we moved indoors and engaged in some team relays and group games. Whilst we all prefer to get outdoors, we are fortunate to have Dhelkunya as an option on wet days.
To complete the term we will be practising our basketball skills, including ball control and ball bounce as well as team work. We will also be engaging in some movement challenges to refine and combine some of our fundamental motor skills. We will conclude the term with a fun session of games.
Table Tennis - many students across all year levels have been enjoying playing table tennis at break times on Tuesdays and Thursdays. It has been heart warming watching the students having fun!
