Music

Our preparation for the Arts Evening in Term Four is well underway. We are hoping to create music that is a culmination of our learning, and properly showcases our skills and musicality. There are also lots of tasks adjacent to our musical goals and our 5/6s begun work on paper stars for the set. 

Each class is preparing a separate item, but they will flow together to create an integrated musical experience. The theme of the evening is Up in the Air, and we have gone as far up as we could! There will be a space soundscape from the 5/6s (inspired by the music from Interstellar), the F/1/2s will sing to us about the moon and our 3/4s will land us in a sky full stars at the conclusion of the performance. 

One of the most difficult components of playing together with so many musicians is keeping together. The urge to get faster is strong and deceptive. To help us work on this all the classes have been enjoying a musical warm up where we tap a beat on our knees and go around the circle naming something according to whatever topic is chosen. Whether it is our favourite colours, sports, foods etc. the students enjoy sharing a quick word on their preferences and the metronome keeps us together and on tempo.
