Year 3/4

Hi families and friends,

Our Grade 3/4 class has had a wonderful few weeks of learning!

We completed our class novel The Iron Man by Ted Hughes and finished our work on information reports. We’ve now begun Charlotte’s Web by E. B. White, linking this story to our new focus on writing narratives. The students are really excited about developing their stories!

In Mathematics, we wrapped up our topic on telling time and have started exploring decimals. Our class was nervous to begin because this was pretty new to them, but they picked it up quickly.

In Inquiry, we’ve continued investigating “paddock to plate,” looking at food production through design and technology with farms as our lens and in RE, we've started to learn about 'Living God's values', first beginning with the concept of belonging and how values help us belong.

I'd also like to congratulate students on a few events they were involved in over the last few weeks:

  • Congratulations to the students who received their first Holy Communion! It was a great service and Sunday event.
  • Congratulations to our Junior Chefs who competed in Round 2 this Tuesday evening. What a great opportunity!
  • Congratulations to our entire class for getting dressed up for Book Week last week. Friday was a fun and joyful occasion, and all the efforts in your costumes helped enormously here! Thank you to the families for their support as well. Congratulations, as well, for your efforts in running the school assembly. You all did an amazing job!

Until next time,

Mr. Giles & The Grade 3/4s.
