Last Thursday (18th September), the Year 9 Child Studies class welcomed Preschool visitors from TGs Kirkwood Street, running a range of fun gross motor activities. Year 10 Food Technology
In Year 10 Food Technology we undertake a Foods for Special Occasions unit. We learn about the social, cultural and religious significance of celebrating with food. The highlight (and assessment task focus) is to design aspects of a celebration for an event and to design and create a special occasion cake using skills that we develop over the term.
Some students arrived days in advance with a cake to freeze, some arrived Friday morning, sheepish grin, clutching a still hot cake fresh from the oven that they had made before school. I am happy to say the results were more than pleasing for all - I am very proud of the final products and skills of course, but equally so of their perseverance with what you can see in some of the images, was some pretty technical decorating. The pride on the faces of the students was the "icing on the cake".
It was a "sweet" afternoon here in Food Tech!
