Over 2 weeks in August, multiple Science classes explored the microworld through the lens of a Scanning Electron Microscope. With equipment provided through a collaboration between the Gene Technology Access Centre (GTAC) and Inspire STEM Education, students were able to use a Scanning Electron Microscope and high quality light microscopes to observe a wide range of specimens. Students found the experience engaging and enjoyed being able to satisfy their curiosity by selecting their own specimens to view.

We are grateful to have access to this technology in the school and thank both GTAC and Inspire STEM for securing the funding that makes this possible. At the school level, this would not be possible without the support of our Laboratory Technician, Jodie Pignataro, who coordinated the learning program and became the school expert in supporting students to get the most out of the device.
