Message from the Principal

St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.

Dear Families,

Welcome to Week 1 of Term 4!

It has been wonderful talking to everyone this week and hearing about their time away from school.

It seems that most individuals have returned rested and raring to go for Term 4! Please read the 'Important Dates' page as we have a busy term. Class newsletters will also be coming home with specific details for each level. Please read carefully.

Congratulations

Congratulations to our students who competed at Divison Athletics this week. We had  two students progress through to Regionals: Odeleyah and Benito. What an amazing achievement! Well done on all the hard work and practice you have engaged in your events!

Thank you to parents and to Ms Tash for all your contributions to these achievements too!

I must also congratulate Kintan, Daniel and Viraj on qualifying for the District level too.

Italian Day

One of the highlights of the year is Italian Day, which is next Friday, 18 October.

Students can come to school dressed in the colours of the Italian flag or inspired by famous Italians.

The day will include a range of activities, pizza and gelato for lunch (provided by the school) and a performance by Luigi Zucchini. We look forward to celebrating this day with everyone.

Although school will be providing pizza and gelato for lunch, please still pack food for lunch as we may not be able to fill all the hungry tummies!

Communication

In response to feedback, we are refining our communication at St Peter’s School to make it clearer and more consistent across the classes. Moving forward:

  • Seesaw will now only be used for celebrating student learning and achievements and will no longer be used for notes or updates.
  • For important updates like excursion permissions, timetable changes, and notices, we’ll be using Email (via SIMON). Please check your inbox and junk folder regularly.
  • If you need to contact your child’s teacher, please use email directly.
  • Absences from school should be notified through Parent Notified Absences on PAM or notified via email office@spclayton.catholic.edu.au
  • Our St Peter’s Community WhatsApp is also a great tool to stay updated on what’s happening at the school. Please make sure to join your class group! If you haven’t joined yet, you can do so by scanning this QR code:

We appreciate your support in streamlining our communication processes.

Uniform

Just a reminder about uniform requirements. This is the last year where yellow polo tops are part of our uniform. From 2025 all students should be in the updated green and gold top.

We no longer require students to wear their house colour top for PE lessons. Grey shorts and trousers are also no longer part of the uniform. As students grow out of current items, please replace them with the updated green shorts and pants available.

We have a photo shoot booked on Thursday 17 October to be able to update the school website. Please ensure your child is wearing correct uniform as outlined below.

P&F News

We look forward to see many of you tomorrow afternoon as we celebrate the Special People in our lives with an afternoon tea. Our wonderful P&F have organised this day. Come and have a quiet cup of tea or coffee and a snack from 2pm if you would like to enjoy an uninterrupted opportunity to eat or drink! Or you can join us when you pick up your students at the end of the day. Soft drinks will be available to purchase for $1.

Colour Fun Run

Our amazing P&F are organising a Colour Fun Run to be held on Friday 15 November.

Please register your child  We are asking students to get donations with prizes available, depending on the amount of money raised by individuals.

We are raising money to re-surface the basketball court at the back of the school. This will compliment our updated adventure playground. We would like the area to look something like this:

The more money we raise during the Fun run, the sooner we can upgrade our outdoor space!

Please read the information in this newsletter carefully- there is a lot we are trying to communicate!

I hope that everyone has a great week.
