Principal Report

Hello DVC Community,

As we approach the end of the school year, we’re proud to celebrate our Year 12 students as they complete their journey with us at Diamond Valley College. It was fantastic to see such a strong turnout at last week’s graduation ceremony, where we celebrated the accomplishments of our graduating class, including those in the Vocational Major pathway.  This event truly highlighted the sense of pride we all share in watching our students step confidently into the next phase of their lives.  For those continuing with exams, we wish you the best of luck – you’ve prepared well, and we’re confident you’ll succeed!

In other important updates, our ongoing commitment to review college policies has led to recent consultations with staff, students, and parents/carers on the Uniform and Dress code Policy.    I’m pleased to share that, following feedback from these groups, we are implementing some key changes, effective immediately, to offer greater flexibility for our students.

Key changes:

  • Students now have the choice to wear either full PE/Sport, full Sports Academy, or full Formal uniform on any school day, unless otherwise advised
  • We recommend that all students have both a full sport and full formal uniform, as there will be occasions when one or the other will be required
  • Please note that mixing items between uniforms (such as wearing a dress shirt with sport shorts) is not permitted.

These changes are designed to support and accommodate all students in adhering to the college uniform, which we believe plays an important role in building a sense of individual and collective pride.  A well-worn uniform promotes equality among students, positively impacts community perceptions, and helps prepare students for life beyond school.  Term 4 will serve as a preparation period for the full implementation of this policy in Term 1, 2025, and we appreciate your support during this transition.

For detailed lists of items for each uniform type, please refer to our Policy. If a student requires an alternative item due to a disability or health condition, please complete the ‘Exemption’ section found within the policyand submit it to the relevant Principal team for consideration.

As always, if you have any questions regarding this update or any other matters, please don’t hesitate to contact our principal team via email or phone.

Thank you for your continued support and engagement in making DVC a vibrant and inclusive community for all.

Warm regards,

Principal
