Stars at Spectacular

STARS at SPECTACULAR
Last term our twenty students from Year 5/6 Spectacular team, represented our school at a high standard arena style event: The Victorian State Schools Spectacular.
Our team learnt, and rehearsed all term, thirteen tunes with matching choreography.
We participated with more than 50 other Victorian schools creating a mass choir of one thousand students.
The theatrical event was beyond the student’s usual experience. We saw young stars (the cream of Victorian State Schools’ talent) hit the stage with one thousand back up dancers, a student orchestra good enough to play all the rock tunes, and Mozart, to perfection and professional technical support to excite any audience.
Costumes were incredible, there were acrobats, international acts, performers on wheels and we sang so very well. The students should be extremely proud.
We even got to welcome home the Olympians during our break between shows.
This sort of event takes a lot of support from our families and staff, particularly at the Year 5/6 level. Many thanks to Belinda Goff, Greg Ross, Erin Richardson, Lauren Parker, Di O’Dwyer and Linda Clancy.
Our school is privileged to have the sort of community who encourages our students to take that risk, work hard, listen to experts to improve and to participate even when the ‘going gets tough’.
Congratulations to the team who are likely to take all their new skills through many parts of their lives.
Thank you,
