Around the Campuses
RUOK? Day
On 13th September students and staff celebrated RUOK? Day. Students were invited to wear pyjamas or bright colours to raise awareness for mental health and wellbeing, and bring a gold coin donation to contribute to the RU OK Campaign.
Students in VCE VM prepared and presented classes to our Year 7 students on what the RUOK campaign is all about, how to recognise when someone isn't OK and how to ask 'RUOK'. They also hosted a barbecue, music and activities at lunch time. Everyone had a great day!

China Cultural and Sister School Visit
During the last two weeks of Term 3, four staff and 23 students from VUSC were fortunate enough to have an unforgettable cultural and educational visit to China. We visited Beijing, Yangzhou, Lianyungang and Shanghai. This trip not only gave us the opportunity to explore China’s famous historical landmarks, but also allowed us to visit two of our sister schools in Jiangsu, where we experienced the Chinese education system and Chinese family life. All the students represented VUSC exceptionally well; they showed respect for one another, for others, and demonstrated a strong sense of teamwork. Below are some reflections from the students on their experiences and impressions during the trip to China.

My trip to China was an amazing experience that I’ll never forget. From exploring the busy streets of Beijing to walking along the Great Wall, I felt like I was stepping into history. Every day was filled with new adventures, from trying delicious food like dumplings and hot pot to visiting beautiful places like The Bund and Temple of Heaven. But the best part wasn’t just seeing famous sights. It was the little things, like trying to speak Mandarin, getting lost in markets, and meeting friendly people. This trip taught me that even in a place far from home, there’s always something new to learn and enjoy. I’m grateful for the memories and hope to go back someday to explore more!

The China trip was a really amazing experience. We were exposed to an entirely different culture and were welcomed immediately. The people, food, and places were all incredible and never failed to amaze me. I personally really appreciated the bonds created on the trip and friendships formed with the students from our school, and the students from the Chinese school. Being on the trip really improved my Chinese speaking ability as well as reading and writing as students from our school jumped at the chance to practise our Chinese whether it was with each other or with a Chinese person. The places we went to such us the Forbidden City, Great Wall of China and Disneyland displayed such rich representations of Chinese culture and beauty that we were able to engage with. Overall, every day of the China trip was amazing from the beautiful sights, bonds made and experiences shared. I would love to go again sometime.
