Wellbeing

As we embark on the final term of Year 6, our focus shifts towards cultivating and enhancing students’ overall wellbeing through purposeful activities and lessons. With a strong emphasis on interpersonal development, students will be provided with numerous opportunities to foster meaningful friendships and connections, creating a positive and supportive school environment.

A central pillar of this term’s focus is Interpersonal Skills. We will guide students as they navigate the complexities of forming and nurturing friendships, which will be reinforced through structured inter-class activities across Year 6. These experiences are designed to equip students with the skills to initiate and sustain healthy relationships, an essential foundation as they transition into secondary school.

In addition, students will participate in The Resilience Project (TRP), further developing their emotional literacy and resilience. Key lessons include:

  • Managing Social Changes: Guiding students through the social dynamics that accompany the shift to secondary school.
  • Encouraging Change: Helping students embrace change with a positive mindset.
  • Empathy and Perspective-Taking: Teaching the importance of understanding others' viewpoints.
  • Global Awareness and Compassion: Instilling a sense of empathy for those facing challenges.

From Weeks 4 to 6, our attention will turn to the Interrelate Program. Through a series of professionally facilitated sessions, students will explore the physical, social, and emotional changes associated with adolescence. These discussions will be conducted in a safe, respectful, and age-appropriate manner, ensuring students feel comfortable and informed.

In Weeks 7 and 8, students will engage in the 4Rs Program, which focuses on regulating emotions and maintaining healthy relationships. These sessions, informed by our Student Voice initiatives, empower students to express themselves confidently, manage their emotions, and seek help when needed.

As the term concludes, we will shift our focus to Transition activities. These will provide our Year 6 students with the opportunity to reflect on their primary school journey and prepare for the exciting challenges and opportunities that await them in secondary school.
