Student Shines at the 2024 Young Voices Awards

We are thrilled to share the exciting news that one of our own, Eva Trubiano of 8 Silver, has received a Special Mention in the prestigious Australian Catholics Young Voices Awards for 2024.  Under this year's inspiring theme, "Do Good, Be Good, Spread the Good News," Eva made a remarkable impression in the Intermediate Photography Division.

The competition which attracts young talents from across Australia, challenges participants to reflect on their values and express them through various forms of media and Eva's exceptional photographic skills and creative vision have been recognised.  Her entry captivated the judges with its powerful storytelling and artistic expression, embodying the essence of the theme.

Eva's success is a testament to her dedication and creativity and we are immensely proud of her accomplishment and the positive example she sets for her peers.  We encourage all of our students to take inspiration from Eva's success and consider participating in future competitions.

Opportunities like the Young Voices Awards not only allow students to showcase their talents, but also to engage with meaningful themes that resonate with their personal and community values.  Let us all be inspired by Eva's achievement and continue to "Do Good, Be Good, Spread the Good News" in our daily lives.

Victorian Coding Challenge

On 18 October, Monika Tudorovic and I went down to Docklands to participate in a coding competition.  The day started with a fun paper answer relay, I am pleased to say we answered all the questions, and not only that, we answered them all correctly.  Then we had a short break for recess, they provided some pastries and fruit.  The second activity was the main part of the event, which involved some mathematics but mostly coding.

We spent about an hour and 45 minutes on it, unfortunately, we did not end up answering all the questions, however, no one else did.  Then we took a slightly longer break for lunch, they provided sandwiches.  Finally, we had an activity in which we codded a bot to play a game for us called “The Prisoners Dilemma”. To end the day prizes were handed out to the podium winners. We came in 4th place out of 12 teams.
