Class of 1974 Reunion

Community Action Launch for 2025

Academy’s Community Action program was launched last week as we enjoyed the privilege of alumnae, Clare Martin (Class of 2014) addressing Year 9 students.  Clare is currently employed by the State Government and volunteers with the Society of St Vincent de Paul.  She was elected Conference President last October.  Clare began volunteering with Vinnies in 2016 and appreciates the opportunity to live out her passion for social justice (after having been an active member of the Academy's Justice Group).

Clare’s passion and commitment to visiting and caring for those less advantaged in our community was evident in her detailed account of her volunteering work.  Clare spoke of Academy’s Mercy values and the enduring legacy of our College culture.  Undoubtedly Clare’s presentation will have inspired and challenged our students to ‘lean in’ to the many volunteering opportunities ahead of them in 2025.

All Year 10 students in 2025 will be spending one week in a community organisation at the end of Term 2.  Students have already begun registering their preferences and will receive notification of their placements in early Term 2.  We expect our students will gain insightful, if not profound experiences through participation in next year’s Community Action Program.
