Principal Class Report

Principal Day – The Dream Team!
Principal Day arrived with a few surprises this year — much to the surprise of the Principal and Assistant Principals!
Our wonderful staff managed to catch the Principal Class completely off guard with some very thoughtful gifts and treats, along with a special basketball ‘Dream Team’ uniform to proudly wear for the entire day. Needless to say, there was no blending into the background! The Principal Class embraced their new team colours and enjoyed plenty of laughs, comments and photo opportunities throughout the day.
The celebrations did not stop there. Our Principal Class were inundated with cards, posters and special messages of appreciation from students. It was wonderful to see the time, creativity and thought that went into making the day so memorable.
The day was a lovely reminder that while schools are incredibly busy places, taking the time to celebrate, connect and have a laugh together is pretty special.
The Principal Class may not be quite ready for the basketball court, but after Principal Day, we can officially confirm that the Dream Team is alive and well!
School Vision and Values Parent Workshops
With HUGE excitement, I am thrilled to invite you to be part of a Parent Workshop to share in the next stage of the School Vision and Values work at LPS.
LPS has engaged with a Brand Management company (School Presence) to assist us with the initial visuals for our school.
Staff teams have been working behind the scenes to develop a series of engaging workshops, with staff, students and parents on Monday 17th August 2026.
These sessions are designed to foster positive energy, encourage collaboration and provide opportunities for a broad range of voices to contribute to shaping the future direction of LPS.
What can I do to support the parent workshop?
Prior to the workshop
- register attendance via the QR code by 130826 for ONE workshop (see attachment)
- promote on social media
- encourage parents to register and be involved
- revisit the School Vision (see attached)
- Special note: Over the recent months, LPS staff have been working together to refine our School’s values. The 5 values are now going to be 3, where kindness is central (see attachment).
- consider what each value means, looks like, feels like etc.
- Note: All materials will be provided on the day.
During the workshop: be activity engaged and have fun! 🙂
Post workshop
At the conclusion of the workshops, all feedback and data will be collated and analysed, with draft visuals and branding concepts presented Week 1, Term 4, to
inform and guide the next phase of the work. Our goal is to officially launch the School Vision and Values inc visuals during Term 4, establishing a strong foundation as we transition into 2027.
If you have any questions, please contact the office.
We really look forward to parents working together with the school in this next exciting LPS journey.
Teaching and Learning @ Lyndhurst
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to all parents who attended Parent Teacher Interview Meetings in week 3. These meetings are a fantastic chance to build on the home school partnership. Our teachers put a lot of thought and planning into their classroom teaching practices every day and appreciate the opportunity to share your child’s learning growth, achievements and strengths with you.
Improving teacher practice
This year our classroom teachers have been aligning their practice with the new Victorian Learning Teaching Model (VTLM 2.0) curriculum model. They have had the opportunity to take part in professional learning, observations of other teachers and professional conversations with colleagues to enhance their practice with
the end goal of increasing academic and wellbeing outcomes for all our students. Over the past two weeks, members of the leadership team have conducted learning walks and observations in all classrooms with positive feedback and areas of growth being identified and provided to all classroom teachers.
100 days of Prep
Earlier this term, our preps reached their 100 days of school milestone. We celebrated our Preps being “100 days smarter” with a dress up day, special activities, certificates and a song at our junior school assembly. Well done to all our Prep students and our Prep team!
Term 3 Student Leader Workshop and AtoSS Focus Group
Term 3 has been an eventful start for some of our students in years 3 to 6.
Student Leadership Day
The Student Leadership Day on Thursday 30th July brought together our School & Specialist captains and SRC Chairs. The student leaders group started the day with a team building activity and reflected on the process and skills used to gain group agreement, and common decision making styles. Students also reflected on how, as leaders, they create safe spaces within unfamiliar group settings. Strategies identified included introducing themselves, actively listening, making eye contact and receiving feedback with a positive attitude.
Simon Sinek’s video, How to Lead, provided a further learning and reflective opportunity for students to think about what inspired them the most about the current leadership role held at school. This discussion allowed for a revisiting of the students leader’s Roles & Responsibilities and setting some achievable goals for the remainder of the year.
We are very proud of the way our students participated in the day and look forward to building their confidence and capabilities within this space.
A big Thank You to Mr Hennessy for his preparation and facilitation on the day.
AtoSS Student Focus Group
On Wednesday 5th of August, we ran a student focus group to unpack and better understand some of our data from the Attitudes to School Survey.
We focussed particularly on the below three factors as identified within our 4 year School Strategic Plan:
- Emotional awareness and regulation
- Managing Bullying
- School Connectedness
The focus group was made up of students from years 3 to 6, and everyone participated and engaged in discussions to respectfully offer their perspectives and share their thoughts and feelings. We came away with lots of notes and a clear idea on an area of focus. Mrs Smith and Mrs Vadera are excited to continue to work with the student group; identifying specific actions and implementing steps that will assist in improving student experiences at Lyndhurst Primary School.
