Vocational Education & Training

VET Certificate III Music Industry
Recently, our VET Music students engaged in an enriching learning experience at Collarts (Australian College of the Arts).
Students have been rehearsing their own choice of repertoire in class over this term and have now had the opportunity to perform their songs in a professional environment and have industry specialists offer their feedback.
Students enjoyed this immersive experience. We’re grateful to Collarts for their time and effort with our students.

VETDSS Spotlight: Building Your Future Through Vocational Pathways (VET)
Vocational Education and Training Delivered to Secondary Students (VETDSS) continues to provide students with valuable hands-on learning experiences that build real skills, industry knowledge, and strong post-school pathways. Whether you are aiming for university, TAFE, apprenticeships, or employment, VETDSS is a powerful way to get ahead while you are still at school.
👩🏫Why VET Matters
VET programs are nationally recognised qualifications that sit alongside your VCE or VCE VM studies. They are competency-based, meaning you develop practical skills and are assessed on your ability to demonstrate industry standards.
Completing a VET certificate can:
- Strengthen your resume with real, industry-recognised skills
- Contribute to your VCE or VCE VM completion
- Provide a direct pathway into further study or employment
- Give you a taste of a chosen career before finishing school
💇♀️What You Can Study
Students can access a wide range of VETDSS programs across different industries, including:
- Health services and allied health assistance
- Community services and childcare
- Business and financial services
- Information technology
- Cookery and hospitality
- Electrotechnology and trades
- Outdoor recreation and sport
- Beauty and salon services
- Music industry and performance
- Laboratory and science skills
- Dance and creative industries
These programs allow students to explore career interests while gaining practical, job-ready skills.
👷🏽♂️Pathways Beyond School
One of the biggest strengths of a VET course is the flexibility it offers after Year 12. Depending on your chosen certificate, pathways may include:
- University entry (some courses offer ATAR or adjustment contributions)
- TAFE courses and diplomas
- Apprenticeships and traineeships
- Direct employment in industry
For example:
- Health and Allied Health pathways can lead into nursing, paramedicine, or allied health assistance roles
- Business and finance courses can lead into accounting, administration, or banking careers
- Trade-based VET can lead directly into apprenticeships in high-demand industries
👨🏻🔧Did You Know?
Many students use VET as a “trial run” for their future career. It’s a great way to discover what you enjoy before committing to full-time study or training after completing your senior schooling .
👩⚕️Getting the Most Out of Your VET Program
To succeed in your VET subject:
- Attend all classes and workplace learning opportunities
- Stay organised with coursework and practical assessments
- Ask questions and engage with your trainers
- Take advantage of industry excursions and work placements
