Wellbeing - Senior School

I had the privilege of attending the School of Rock production on Saturday evening - congratulations to all of the students and staff involved in this energetic, fun-filled event. The commitment to preparing for roles that were out of the comfort zone for many of the performers reflects the many hours of dedication to the craft and to the College’s Co-Curricular Program.

Hot on the heels of the College Musical, I also wish to commend the six students who are competing in the Intermediate Theatresports Finals on Wednesday evening.

With Founder’s Day approaching this Friday, it is a timely reminder of the strength of our College Community as we celebrate the foundation provided by the Christian Brothers back in the early decades of the 20th Century. I congratulate the Year 12 boys in both Berg and Crichton Houses who yesterday competed in the Final of the Founder’s Day Cup, the winning House earning the right to play against the Staff Team on Friday.

For many of the senior cohorts, assessment tasks in many of the subject areas are occurring in the coming week. I remind students to plan their revision and study time effectively to ensure they are well prepared for the tasks provided.

A reminder to Year 10 parents and students that the Year 11, 2027 Information Evening is being held next Thursday 11 June. This session is vitally important for both parents and students as preparations begin for the transition into Stage 6 next year, especially as there have been changes to Stage 6 Subject courses and other NESA requirements in recent years.

Men's Health Week Around the World

Men's Health Week will be celebrated from 15-21 June. It is an opportunity to provoke thought and discussion, highlighting the importance of men's health, and to promote and support the health and wellbeing of men and boys in our communities.

Men's Health Week focuses on not just physical health, but also men's mental health and emotional wellbeing. During the week, we will highlight the health challenges faced by men in Australia and worldwide and run events that can be replicated year-round to improve the physical, emotional, and mental health of men and boys.

The 2026 theme in Australia is 'See a GP' - highlighting the importance of seeing a doctor if something seems wrong with your physical, mental, or emotional wellbeing. In addition, we will be highlighting Men's Health Facts and encouraging men to:

  • Take regular exercise to support health and reduce stress

  • Take part in regular health checks and screening

  • Seek help when they are feeling low or challenged by life circumstances

  • Help a mate who they believe is struggling.

This week, Year 9 students have commenced the collective goal of completing the 3,307 Push-Up Challenge. The aim of the initiative is to raise awareness on challenging the health inequities experienced by men.

The Push-Up Challenge highlights the importance of physical activity, connection, and open conversations, particularly as young men are disproportionately affected by mental health issues. Through teamwork and daily participation, students will not only build resilience and fitness but also develop a greater understanding of the importance of looking after their mental wellbeing and supporting one another.
