At our recent school assembly the first Year 2 Sports Leaders were presented with their badges. Alexa, Helena, Sam, Joshua, Sheryl, Nikael, Rihaan and Lincoln will represent their respective sports houses and lead the students in boosting school spirit.
Nuts at School
Nuts are among the most common causes of allergic reactions in children. Many foods, including muesli bars, baked goods and spreads, can contain nuts or traces of nuts. Please keep our students safe by not sending nut products to school. It reduces the risk of accidental exposure and creates a safe environment for everyone.
Student Eyecare
The school is pleased to announce that the Student Eyecare Program for Kindergarten will be running at the school in Week 11, Term 2. An optometrist will be onsite during school hours to provide students with a free comprehensive eye examination that is covered through Medicare Australia. 1 in 6 students have eye conditions that go undetected. Every student will receive a full report about their eye health and a prescription will be provided if glasses are required. The prescription can be taken to any optical store to get the glasses made. Don’t miss out on this wonderful opportunity. Safe bus travel to and from school
Following National Road Safety Week, which ran from 17–24 May 2026, this is a timely reminder for families to speak with children about travelling safely to and from school. Many students use buses and safe routines make a real difference. Please remind your child to wait well back from the road, behave safely while on the bus, and never cross in front of or behind a bus. Children should wait until the bus has moved away before choosing a safe place to cross. Younger children should be supervised when walking to and from the bus stop, and families should have a clear plan for what their child should do if an adult is delayed.
For more information, please read the NSW Department of Education’s advice on safe bus travel to and from school.
Attendance
Education for your child is important and regular attendance at school is essential for your child to achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options. NSW public schools work in partnership with parents to encourage and support the regular attendance of children and young people. When your child attends school every day, learning becomes easier and your child will build and maintain friendships with other children.
Last week any student whose attendance is less than 85% will have received a letter via email informing parents and carers of our concerns for their child's attendance. It highlighted the number of days your child has been absent and encouraged you to speak with us about any ongoing concerns and issues preventing your child from attending school. We encourage you to work with your child’s class teacher and develop a plan to support your child’s attendance at school.
The importance of arriving on time:
- Ensures that students do not miss out on important learning activities scheduled early in the day
- Helps students learn the importance of punctuality and routine
- Give students time to greet their friends before class
- Reduces classroom disruption
Lateness is recorded as a partial absence and must be explained by parents.
What if my child has to be away from school?
On occasion, your child may need to be absent from school. Justified reasons for student absences may include:
- being sick, or having an infectious disease
- having an unavoidable medical appointment
- being required to attend a recognised religious holiday
- exceptional or urgent family circumstance (e.g. attending a funeral)
