This Friday morning, families are warmly invited to join us for a whole‑school Mass celebrating the Feast Day of St Anthony. As part of this special occasion, parishioners and students will have the opportunity to venerate a relic of St Anthony, which has been generously loaned to us for the day. We will also honour the long‑held tradition of the blessing of St Anthony’s bread, with blessed bread available for families to take home. This custom dates back to the 13th century, when a child drowned near the Basilica of St Anthony in Padua. The child’s mother prayed to St Anthony and promised to give the poor an amount of grain equal to her child’s weight if he was restored. When the child miraculously revived, she fulfilled her promise, beginning the tradition of offering bread in gratitude. We look forward to seeing you there.

The Church has released a new encyclical on artificial intelligence, Magnifica Humanitas, at a time when AI is rapidly shaping how we live, learn, and communicate. In this document, Pope Leo XIV offers guidance on how technology can serve human dignity rather than diminish it, continuing the long tradition of Catholic social teaching that began with Rerum Novarum during the Industrial Revolution. If you would like to read more about the Church’s teaching on AI and the human person, you can find the encyclical here. please click here.
