As we progress through Term 2, the initial rush of the new term has settled into a steady rhythm. This is a crucial junction in the academic year, a time to consolidate our gains and look purposefully toward the future.
For our Year 10 students, that future is approaching fast. They will soon begin making pivotal decisions regarding their pattern of study for Year 11 in 2027. This is an exciting milestone, marking the official transition into senior schooling. I encourage families to engage in open conversations about interests, strengths, and future aspirations.
When navigating these choices, a good rule of thumb is authenticity: don’t just choose subjects that you think "scale well" or because your friends are doing them. Instead, select subjects that genuinely interest you; as passion is the greatest driver of academic success.
Of course, looking ahead shouldn't mean losing focus on the present. Across all year groups, now is the time to sustain positive study habits. The cold winter term can test our resolve and tempt us to slacken our pace, making consistency more important than ever.
I challenge every student to reflect honestly on their daily routines:
This striving for continuous improvement perfectly captures our commitment to Magis; the philosophy of continuous improvement; never settling for good enough when you are capable of greater growth; greater kindness and greater learning. Magis isn't about achieving a flawless, perfect score: it’s about harbouring a restless desire to learn, grow, and put our best foot forward every single day.
