Principal's Report

As we move through another busy and successful term at Glen Innes High School, I would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the achievements of our students and thank our families and community for their ongoing support.
Recently, a number of our students represented Glen Innes High School at the Cross Country event in Coolah. Our students demonstrated outstanding determination, resilience and sportsmanship throughout the day and represented our school with pride. Congratulations to all students who participated and a special congratulations to those who achieved placings and have progressed to the next level of competition. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the positive way they represented our school.
Last week, our Year 10 students have been participating in Work Experience placements across our local community and beyond. Work Experience provides students with a valuable opportunity to explore potential career pathways, develop workplace skills and gain a deeper understanding of life beyond school. These experiences help students make informed decisions about their future education and employment opportunities while building confidence and independence. We extend our sincere thanks to the many businesses, organisations and community members who welcomed our students into their workplaces. Your willingness to support our young people and invest in their future is greatly appreciated and continues to strengthen the strong partnership between our school and community.
A reminder to families that our Subject Selection Evening will be held on Tuesday 16 June. This is an important opportunity for students and parents to learn more about the subject options available as students transition from Year 8 into Year 9 and from Year 10 into Year 11. Staff will be available to discuss courses, answer questions and provide guidance to help students make informed decisions about their future learning pathways. We strongly encourage families to attend and take advantage of the opportunity to speak directly with teachers about their child's interests, strengths and aspirations.
We are also looking ahead to welcoming our future Year 7 students for 2027. Families are reminded to ensure enrolment paperwork has been completed and returned as soon as possible to assist with planning for next year. A reminder also that Expressions of Interest for the 2027 HPGE Extension Class close today. We encourage interested families to submit their applications before the closing date.
As we prepare for NAIDOC Week celebrations, Glen Innes High School will commence its celebrations with a Flag Raising Ceremony on 29 June at 10:55am. We warmly invite Elders, families, carers and community members to join us for this important occasion as we come together to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. These events provide valuable opportunities for our students to strengthen their understanding of culture, community and connection, while acknowledging and celebrating the rich heritage of Australia's First Nations peoples.
At Glen Innes High School, we are proud to be part of the NSW public education system and to provide students with a wide range of academic, sporting, cultural and vocational opportunities. Our dedicated staff work hard to ensure every student is known, valued and cared for while being challenged to achieve their personal best. From extension opportunities and leadership programs to vocational pathways, wellbeing support and extracurricular activities, public education offers opportunities for every student to thrive.
We thank our families for choosing public education and for continuing their educational journey with Glen Innes High School. Together, we are building a strong school community where students are supported, challenged and inspired to succeed.
Thank you for your continued support of our school.
