Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,
WARRNAMBOOL PS BIG FREEZE ICE BUCKET CHALLENGE FOR MND
A huge thank you to our Warrnambool Primary School community for your incredible support of this year's Big Freeze Ice Bucket Challenge for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
We set an ambitious fundraising goal of $2,000 and are thrilled to announce that, thanks to the generosity of our students, families and staff, we smashed that target and raised an outstanding $3,181.30!
A special congratulations and thank you to Skye Nichols for her fantastic organisation and leadership in making this event such a success.
Thank you also to our wonderful volunteers Dave, April, Jacqui, Alex and Josh, who assisted as we bravely (or perhaps not so bravely!) took our turn getting dunked with icy water.
The event was filled with laughter, excitement and plenty of cold surprises, but most importantly it helped raise awareness and valuable funds for a cause that impacts many Australian families.
Thank you again to everyone who donated, participated and cheered us on. It was a fantastic community effort and a reminder that when we work together, we can make a real difference.
Fun for a vital cause – well done, Warrnambool PS!
YEAR 3 CAMP KANGAROOBIE
Our Year 3 students and staff have embarked on an exciting and memorable stay at Camp Kangaroobie. With kind weather and plenty of enthusiasm, students enjoyed a wonderful farm-stay experience filled with adventure, learning and fun.
The camp provides many opportunities for students to develop their independence, build friendships and support one another as they participated in a range of activities. It is fantastic to see students stepping outside their comfort zones, trying new experiences and demonstrating the values that make Warrnambool Primary School such a positive community.
A special thank you to April Sandri, Charlie Johns, Dave Cashin and Danielle Toone for their outstanding organisation, care and support throughout the camp. Their efforts ensure that every student has a safe, enjoyable and rewarding experience.
Most importantly, the camp is great fun! The smiles, laughter and positive memories created over the few days away will stay with our students for a long time.
Well done to all of our Year 3 students for representing Warrnambool Primary School so positively and making the most of this wonderful opportunity.
STUDENT REPORTS AND PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Teachers and students have been working very hard over the past few weeks completing assessment and reporting tasks.
We will be providing student achievement reports for Semester 1 this year as usual.
The reports will continue to provide important details about student learning attainment, but full descriptive comments may not be included as a result of industrial action taken earlier this term by the Australian Education Union Vic Branch.
The reports will be available via Compass on Wednesday 24th June 2026.
Parent Teacher Interviews will be in the third week of Term 3.
Please ensure that you book your Interview time through compass when bookings open but if you have any issues please contact the school office.
Parent Teacher Interviews will be held Monday 27th to Wednesday 29th July 2026 from 3.30pm-5pm.
NB: Year 4 interviews will commence earlier for those families who can access that time.
FIRST NATIONS LEADERSHIP DAY – WARRNAMBOOL
Students and staff from Warrnambool Primary School recently took part in an inspiring First Nations Leadership Day held in Warrnambool.
The day provided a powerful opportunity for students to learn from First Nations perspectives, strengthen their understanding of culture and history, and explore what leadership means within community and Country.
Through engaging activities, storytelling and shared experiences, students developed respect, reflection and a deeper appreciation of First Nations voices.
A strong focus of the day was on connection—connection to land, to culture, and to one another. Students were encouraged to think about how they can lead with empathy, responsibility and respect in their own school and wider community.
The experience was both meaningful and memorable, and our students represented Warrnambool Primary School with pride throughout the day.
Thank you to the organisers, presenters and Gina Mills who supported this valuable learning opportunity.
YEAR 5/6 WINTER SPORTS DAY
Our Year 5 and 6 students recently took part in a fantastic Winter Sports Day, competing in a range of activities including T-ball, netball, soccer and football.
It was a great opportunity for students to get active, develop their skills and represent Warrnambool Primary School in a positive and enthusiastic way. Across all sports, students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, teamwork and encouragement of one another.
Most importantly, everyone participated with enthusiasm and clearly enjoyed the day out. The event highlighted the value of physical activity, not only for fitness and health, but also for building confidence, resilience and connection with peers.
Well done to all students involved for their effort, attitude and team spirit. It was wonderful to see so many students enjoying exercise, which is so important for both body and mind.
A great day out for all involved.
Thank you to our Year 5/6 teachers and to Nicole Walker and Brooke Herbertson for all your help.
DIVISION GIRLS FOOTBALL
Today, girls from Years 5 and 6 participated in Division Girls Football.
The girls put in a fantastic effort throughout the day, demonstrating excellent sportsmanship and resilience in every match. They worked hard, supported one another and should be proud of the way they represented our school both on and off the field.
A special thank you goes to Rikki Leonard for coaching the team and providing encouragement and guidance throughout the day. We also appreciate Rikki stepping in to assist with umpiring duties, helping to ensure the games ran smoothly.
YEAR 1 - FLAGSTAFF HILL EXCURSION
The Year 1 students will soon be heading off on an exciting excursion to Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village. Following morning roll marking, students will travel by bus to Flagstaff Hill where they will participate in a range of engaging activities, including an old-fashioned classroom experience and a guided tour of the village.
Students are encouraged to dress in olden-day clothing for the excursion. Those who choose not to dress up should attend in full school uniform.
There is no cost for this excursion; however, all students must have parent/carer permission submitted via Compass in order to attend.
Have a great weekend.
