END OF SEMESTER REPORTS

End of Semester reports will be released to students and parents on Friday 26 June. These reports are a culmination of the work that your child has completed during the first half of the 2026 academic year.

The reports will look slightly different to what they have in the past as they will contain a page for student commendations and College activities that they have been involved with during the semester. We hope that this change better reflects the extracurricular experiences that our students are offered as a part of the educational journey at St Joseph’s College.

Other aspects of the end of semester report will remain unchanged. Students in Years 7 to 10 will receive a progression point assessment in line with the Victorian Curriculum 2.0.

The purpose of the progression point is to 'to measure, track, and report a student's learning growth over time along a continuous learning continuum rather than just assessing if they passed or failed a year level'. (Victorian Department of Education, 2026)

Student work completed during the semester and assessed on Learning Areas, which has been accessible via the Parent Access Module (PAM), will also appear on the report.

Students completing VCE subjects will also have a comment about the need to book a time at the upcoming Parent/Teacher/Student Conferences during Week 2 of the next term to discuss the academic year thus far and set some goals for the remainder of the year. These interviews can be booked via PAM. Unit 1 and 2 subjects will have Area of Study outcomes and assessment tasks from Learning Areas appear on reports whilst students completing Unit 3 and 4 subjects will only have Area of Study outcomes appear as 'satisfactory' or 'not satisfactory'.

MID-YEAR EXAMS

When this newsletter is published, students in Years 9, 10 and 11 have either completed or are close to completing their Mid-Year Exams. The purpose of these exams is to prepare students for what they will encounter at the end of a VCE Unit 3/4 sequence.

Congratulations to all students who completed these exams. You should be proud of yourselves. I hope you enjoy your well-earned break.
