MOTHER'S DAY BREAKFAST
On 8 May, St Joseph’s College warmly celebrated its annual Mother’s Day Breakfast, a much-loved tradition that brings together mothers, grandmothers, carers and the many special women who play such an important role in the lives of our students. The event provided a wonderful opportunity for our college community to recognise the care, support and love that these women provide each day.
There was a sense of warmth and appreciation, as students and staff gathered to honour the significant women in their lives. Everyone enjoyed a beautifully prepared breakfast. There were many student smiles and heartfelt moments.
Our guest speaker this year was Stephanie Gobbo, a qualified clinical health practitioner and the resident Naturopath and Nutritionist at Willow Urban Retreat, Melbourne’s premier health and wellness retreat. Stephanie shared valuable insights into the importance of holistic wellbeing, with a particular focus on supporting women’s health in the demands of modern life. Her engaging and informative presentation encouraged attendees to prioritise self-care, nourish both body and mind, and find balance amid busy family and professional commitments.
The Mother’s Day Breakfast continues to be a cherished occasion on the College calendar – an opportunity not only to celebrate but also to pause and reflect on the invaluable contributions of the women in our community. St Joseph’s College extends its sincere thanks to all who attended and helped make the morning so special.
YEAR 8 CAMP
Our Year 8 students recently attended their camp in the Grampians from 18 to 22 May, where they embraced new challenges, strengthened friendships, and experienced the beauty of the natural environment. Through a range of engaging outdoor activities, students developed resilience, teamwork, and confidence while creating lasting memories in one of Victoria’s most stunning landscapes.
COLLEGE BALL
One of the highlights of the school year will undoubtedly be the College Ball on 29 May, which brought students together for an evening of celebration, connection, and unforgettable memories. The dance floor was alive with energy as students enjoyed a night filled with laughter, friendship, and fun.
This year’s Garden Disco-themed Ball provided a beautiful and elegant setting for the occasion. We extend our sincere thanks to Miss Andy Higgins for her outstanding organisation and dedication in bringing the event to life. Her hard work ensured a truly memorable evening for all who attended.
YEAR 7 2027 ENROLMENT INTERVIEWS
Enrolment numbers at the College continue to strengthen, reflecting the confidence that families across the Sunraysia region place in our school community. We are grateful for the ongoing support and trust shown by current and prospective families.
In recent weeks, we have commenced enrolment interviews for our 2027 Year 7 intake. It has been a pleasure meeting so many enthusiastic students and families as they begin their journey with the College. The excitement and anticipation surrounding these interviews has been wonderful to see, and we look forward to welcoming the next generation of learners into our community.
We also held our Grade 6 All Schools Visit on Tuesday 16 June, and the Mercy Campus Open Evening occurred that afternoon/evening. With the Mercy Campus becoming a Junior Campus for Year 7 and 8 students in 2027, this is a very exciting period for the College.
UNIFORM
We are proud that most of our students wear their uniform with pride and consistently uphold the College’s uniform expectations. Our uniform plays an important role in fostering a strong sense of community, identity, and unity across the College.
As a reminder, during Terms 2 and 3 all students are required to wear their College blazer when arriving at school in the morning, during morning homeroom, and when leaving the College in the afternoon.
We understand that visiting the uniform shop may not always be convenient for families. To assist, uniform items can be arranged for delivery directly to the College. If you require support with this service, please contact the school for further assistance.
MOBILE PHONES
In accordance with the College Student Mobile Technology Policy, we remind students and families that mobile phones must be stored securely in student lockers throughout the school day.
Phones are not to be used until students have left the College grounds. We appreciate the support of families in helping us maintain a focused and positive learning environment for all students.
YEAR 12 RETREAT – ANGLESEA
This past Monday, 22 June, our Year 12 students embarked on their much-anticipated weeklong retreat to Anglesea. This special experience provides an opportunity for students to step away from the demands of daily life, strengthen relationships, and reflect on their journey as they approach the conclusion of their secondary education.
Throughout the retreat, students have participated in a range of exciting and challenging activities, including horse riding, surfing, mountain biking, canoeing, and high ropes. These experiences encourage teamwork, resilience, and personal growth, while also creating lasting memories with their peers.
A feature of the retreat is the opportunity for reflection through small group discussions and shared experiences that foster trust, connection, and a sense of belonging. One of the most meaningful traditions of the retreat is the sharing of letters from parents and family members. This heartfelt experience is often a highlight for students, providing encouragement, affirmation, and a reminder of the support that surrounds them as they prepare for the next chapter of their lives.
Looking ahead...
F1 STUDY TOUR – ENGLAND AND GERMANY – 28 JUNE TO 12 JULY
We also wish safe travels to the students and staff who will be embarking on the inaugural F1 Study Tour which will depart during the school holiday period. We look forward to seeing photos and hearing stories of their travels and experiences – with one of the many highlights being attending the British F1 at the Silverstone Circuit.
