CATHOLIC EDUCATION WEEK

COMBINED SCHOOLS MASS

‘Peace be with you all.’ – Romans 15:33

Catholic schools provide young people with vibrant places to learn and grow while developing their own personal faith practices. During Catholic Education Week each year, we celebrate our vibrant Catholic learning communities and thank God for the gift of Catholic education.

St Joseph’s College belongs to the Catholic Diocese of Ballarat, which observed Catholic Education Week from 25 to 29 May. Here in Mildura, we held a special Combined Schools Mass in the Mercy Stadium on Wednesday 20 May. Joining our Year 7 cohort were students in Grades 5 and 6 from our local Catholic primary schools attended, including:

• Sacred Heart, Mildura

• Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Merbein

• St Paul's, Mildura

• St Joseph's, Red Cliffs

• St Mary's, Robinvale

This year’s Catholic Education Week theme was ‘Peace be with you all’.  This verse from St Paul’s letter to the early Roman Christians reemphasises that peace is a gift from God. It also echoes the first sentence Pope Leo XIV uttered in his first public address as Pontiff.

In Catholic schools, the Pope’s call for peace is lived out each day in the sharing of knowledge, the building of meaningful relationships, and a strong devotion to service within our communities.
