PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

Welcome to the fourth issue of Community for 2026. Thank you for joining us as we look back on the latter half of Term 2.
I think you will agree that our community has made the most of the past five weeks. During that time:
- We held the 66th annual College Ball.
- VCE and VCE VM students studying a Unit 3 & 4 sequence sat the General Achievement Test (GAT).
- The Year 8 cohort spent an energising week on their Grampians Camp.
- The Mercy Action Group collected considerable generous donations of clothing, blankets, toiletries, and more for the Vinnies Winter Appeal.
- Our athletes displayed fine sportsmanship and advanced to the next round of competition in Cross Country, Netball, and Football.
Check out highlights from all those and more happenings in the pages that follow. Be sure to watch the short Celebrating 120 Years video on the next page and join us as we continue to commemorate this special milestone.
MERCY JUNIOR CAMPUS
On Tuesday 16 June, we welcomed over 300 people to our Mercy Open Evening. Along with guided tours of the facilities and conversations with senior staff members, guests viewed architectural renders of the buildings that will complete our new Mercy Junior Campus.
Please have a look at those renders below. If you missed our previous update, these modular buildings will be installed in December2026 and January 2027 with no disruption to classes.
FAITH
Ours is a multicultural and multifaith community whose members practise Catholicism, Protestantism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and more religions besides.
As a Catholic college, we support our students as they discover and create their own personal faith practices. Religious Education plays a central role in this. While the subject focuses on the Christian faith, students also learn about the traditions and beliefs that belong to other religions with their own thriving congregations here in Sunraysia.
While it is true that the liturgical life of the College centres on Catholic practices, it also provides students with opportunities to understand the role shared beliefs and traditions play in shaping a community’s identity.
On the page dedicated to our Religious Education Learning Area, you will find a comprehensive summary of Semester One’s activities, events, and engaging curriculum takeaways.
SENIOR PATHWAYS
It is never too early for students to plan for their future. With that in mind, please save the date for this year’s Senior Pathways Information Evening on Wednesday 15 July, from 6.00pm to 7.30pm at the Mercy Campus.
We specifically designed this event for students in Years 9, 10, and 11. However, even students in Years 7 and 8 would find useful information and answers to any questions they might have about subjects in Year 9 and above.
I strongly encourage current Year 10 students to attend presentations on VCE, VCE VM, and VPC. Year 9 students will discover all the exciting opportunities that await them next year at the 2027 Choices presentation.
Year 11 students can discuss their 2027 subject selections before attending a meeting about their upcoming Snow Camp Meeting. All parents and guardians of Year 11 students who will participate in this year's Snow Camp must attend this special meeting to discuss the Alpine Responsibility Code. This is a legal requirement of all school snow camps.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS
Term 2 will end tomorrow, Friday 26 June. We will dismiss all students at 2.30pm.
Some of our students will depart the following Sunday on the Formula 1 Study Tour. Over the fortnight of holidays, they will travel to England and Germany. There they will tour and watch the Silverstone Formula 1 British Grand Prix, go sightseeing in London, Stuttgart, and Munich, and visit the Jaguar, Land Rover, Porsche, and BMW factories. Stay tuned to the College’s Instagram account for updates on their travels.
If you and your family are also visiting places further afield these school holidays, I wish you a safe return journey. Should you be relaxing at home, I hope you will have time to catch up on favourite hobbies and pastimes.
Term 3 will commence on Monday 13 July. Students will continue to wear their winter uniform, including blazer, to and from the College.
In the spirit of hope and faith,
Mr Greg Kluske
College Principal
