June 1st, 2026 Jack
This week’s Superhero is being recognised for their excellence.
Jack consistently upholds our school values and learning dispositions, always meeting the expectations we set for ourselves as learners and leaders. He leads through his everyday actions, setting a strong example for others across the school.
Jack approaches learning opportunities with maturity but can also bring a love of silliness and the absurd that adds joy and laughter to those around Him. Whether working in the classroom, supporting younger students, representing the school at events, or contributing to school life more broadly, he carries himself with integrity, kindness, and respect.
Jack is collaborative, resilient, and willing to step outside his comfort zone to take on challenges and responsibilities. his thoughtful nature allows him to work positively with others while remaining focused on achieving his goals. Whether capturing a room with a tune or helping others feel included, Jack has a way of positively shaping the atmosphere around him.
Importantly, Jack's contribution to our school is not measured only through academic achievement or leadership. He is a supportive friend, someone who values connection with others, and who brings a love of alliteration, humour, and energy to his classroom.
With a lively blend of leadership, learning, laughter, and light-hearted ridiculousness, today we proudly recognise Jack as this week’s Superhero from Studio 11.

Soccer
On Tuesday 19th May, our senior soccer teams travelled to Gisborne to compete in the COBAW District Soccer Championships. Both our boys’ and girls’ teams show showed great determination and team spirit, playing with a smile on their faces and demonstrating excellent development with each match.
Our boys’ team were unlucky to miss out on a spot in the final having won 4 games, drawing 1 and losing 1. Remarkably the boys only conceded a single goal across the whole day. A fantastic effort finishing the day in 3rd place.
Our girls’ team was dominant. They won all 6 pool games to qualify for the final. The girls did not concede a goal all day and went on to convincingly win the final 2-0. The girls now move onto the Division level in Term 3. Congratulations girls!
Well done to all students for representing Kyneton Primary School so proudly.
Cross Country
Congratulations to our nine runners, Sonny, Alex, April, Erin, Pfeiffer, Eli, Mae, Abbie and Elliott, who qualified and competed in the Cross Country Division Championships in Castlemaine on Friday 22nd May.
All our students dug deep and gave it their all to achieve some impressive results. Special mentions to Eli – 6th and Abbie – 6th for their top 10 finishes and a big congratulations to Pfeiffer for winning her event. These three students now progress to the Regional Championships in St Arnaud on Tuesday 2nd June.
In cold and wet condition at the Loddon Mallee Regional Championships in St Arnaud on Tuesday 2nd June our three runners Eli, Pfeiffer and Abbie competed against some of the state’s top junior athletes. Firstly, congratulations to our three students for making it through to the Regional stage, a fantastic achievement and experience. All at KPS are extremely proud of your efforts. All three achieved impressive results with Pfeiffer – 24th, Eli – 14th and Abbie – 6th. With her top 10 finish Abbie has qualified, for the second straight year, to compete in the State Cross Country Championships at the Yarra Valley Racing Club early next term. Go Abbie!
Winter Sports
On Tuesday 26th May, 53 students from Years 5 and 6 travelled to Romsey to compete in the Winter Round of CDSSA Interschool Sports. Boys’ and girls’ teams participated in softball, netball, and AFL. On a very successful day all 5 of our teams made it through to the finals and congratulations to our boys’ AFL team, who went undefeated and were crowned district champions. The boys’ now progress to the division level next term. Parents & Friends Association News
The Parents & Friends Association is calling on the wider KPS community for help with a special project. We are creating colourful bunting that can be used around the school for special assemblies, celebrations and stalls.
We would love support from anyone who can:
- Donate pieces of fabric (for those who can’t sew)
- Sew bunting in different shapes and sizes
Here are some pattern ideas to guide you, but it is completely up to you what shape, size or number of pieces you would like to make. Bunting can be hand sewn or machine sewn, and it certainly doesn’t need to be perfect. Deb in the office has already made a few sample pieces.
The P&F are also looking for someone who may be able to make a soft toy using old KPS uniforms. If you have this skill and would be willing to help, please contact Sarah Lockhart at sarah.lockhart2@education.vic.gov.au.
Thank you for supporting our school community. Every contribution, big or small, is greatly appreciated.

Medical Information and Medication Requirements
If your child requires medication at school, a medication authority form needs to be completed, and medication needs to be brought to the office to be stored safely. A first aid officer will be assigned to administer the medication. Students should not carry medication in their school bags.
Please inform the office if there are any changes to your child’s medical needs so the appropriate paperwork can be completed and procedures put in place to care for your child.

Students Arriving Late
Students arriving late to school should come to the office, accompanied by an adult, and sign in either on the Compass Kiosk or in the late book. They will then be issued a late pass to take to class, and their arrival at school will be updated on the roll. This will avoid parents/guardians receiving notification that their child is not at school when they have arrived late.
Early Collection of Students from School
We understand that there are many reasons why you might need to collect students from school early, however, we ask that you please keep these to a minimum where possible.
Our school PA system works by buildings so when an announcement is made it will be heard throughout the whole building and the closest relocatable classroom. These announcements are very disruptive, especially when some days announcements are being made on numerous occasions within short periods. These disruptions have an impact on student learning.
We ask for your assistance with some strategies to assist with this matter:
- Email the teacher and the office early in the day with the time you will be collecting your child/ren so we can, hopefully, have them waiting at the office for you.
- When possible, collect your child just before recess (11 – 11:40am) or lunchtime (1:40 – 2:20pm) rather than during the middle of class times.
- Announcements for collecting children will not be made during class time. If you need to collect your child during class time please come to the office to sign your child/ren out as an early departure and then go to the classroom to collect them.
We understand there can be emergencies, however, we hope you will give your support and enable all children to receive as much learning as possible.
School Gates and Opening Times
Our school gates open at 8:45am each day with classes commencing at 9am. School grounds can be accessed via the Edgecombe St pedestrian gate, the kindergarten ramp and the back gate at the bottom of our basketball courts. Please DO NOT use the staff car park or stairs to access the school.
Accessing Compass
Compass is our main way of communicating with our families. It is important that parents access the Parental Portal in Compass at https://kynetonps.vic.jdlf.com.au
Using our parent portal will enable you to –
- View up-to-date class and school attendance information
- Approve or enter upcoming or past absences for your son/daughter
- Update your registered email and mobile number (used for SMS alters)
- Access information regarding upcoming events and news
- Access your child’s Semester Reports
- Book your Parent/Student/Teacher conferences
We encourage families to download the Compass App and to enable notifications to ensure you receive all communications.
Please click on the “Welcome to Compass” booklets for further assistance or contact the office.
Carpark Safety
We would like to address some important safety concerns regarding carpark use, and we kindly ask for your cooperation.
Kindergarten Carpark
Please do not park in the kindergarten carpark. This carpark is reserved exclusively for kindergarten families. If you have both kindergarten and school-aged children and need to park there, please ensure you use the ramp to access the school grounds.
Please also note that the large gate at the end of the kindergarten car park and the school is locked and should not be used to access the school — children should not be lifted over the gate under any circumstances.
School Carpark
The school carpark has vehicles moving in and out throughout the day. For safety reasons, we ask that pedestrians do not use the stairs near the flag poles and then walk through the carpark as a shortcut. The designated ramp or steps are to be used when entering or exiting the school.
Thank you for your support in helping keep all members of our school and kindergarten community safe.
