Principal's Report

By Carolyn Serpell

Many thanks to everyone who came out to support Friday's raffle at the Mountain Monk Brewery.  As a result, we raised $760 which will cover the cost of purchasing new padding for the netball posts, new soccer nets and a complete set of timers for swimming.  This is a great outcome and we really appreciate the support, thank you!

Thank you also to Steph, Hayley and Misa who accompanied our Year 5/6 students to Monday's Open Water Learning Experience in Albury.  This was a great opportunity, and enabled students to practise essential life-saving skills and knowledge around how to keep themselves and others safe in an open water environment.

Tomorrow 17 of our students will head to Wodonga to participate in the Upper Hume Division Swim Carnival.  Good luck to students and our thanks to Steph, who will be assisting on the day, and to families for their support with transport and supervision.

This week, in Years 3-6, students have been writing speeches as part of the nomination process for the 2024 School Representative Council (SRC) elections.  Today, students wishing to run for SRC presented their speeches to their year level, and students have now voted for their prefered candidates.  The new SRC will be announced at assembly.

The 2024 School Council elections are also now underway.  To nominate, please the  complete the form here.  Nominations will close on Tuesday 20th February, and will be followed by a ballot, if required.

On Friday 1st March, students in Years 3-6 will have the opportunity to participate in the Falls Creek Victorian Interschools MTB event. Registrations are now open and can be found here, along with additional information.  While we will have a staff member there to support students, famiies are responsible for registration and transportation, as well as ensuring your child has the appropriate safety gear and that the bike has undergone the necessary safety checks.

Are you interested in becoming a citizen scientist?  On Saturday 2nd March, families have an opportunity to learn about how they can support our local native wildlife by helping to monitor platypus numbers.  For more information, and to register your attendance, please click here.
