Sunday 11th February 2024 is the United Nations International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This day recognises the critical role women and girls play in science and technology. At present, less than 30 per cent of researchers worldwide are women and only 30 per cent of all female students select STEM-related fields in higher education. Long-standing biases and gender stereotypes are steering girls and women away from science-related fields.
To honour this important day, Auburn High School will organise an incursion on Friday 9th February where our students can hear about women scientists who have been world changers, learn about career pathways and opportunities in STEM and celebrate the day by completing a scientific experiment. This event is opened to all students, boys and girls, interested to hear about this important topic.WHEN: Friday 9th February 1:15pm - 1:45pmWHERE: Science classroom S4WHO: Open to all students in Junior and Senior school.
