Outline of events in Term One
Year 5 Camp to Forest Lodge
The Grade 5 children will be going to Forest Lodge camp from Wednesday 21st-Friday 23rd February. The camp offers a blend of activities, including a wide range of outdoor facilities and team building challenges. The majority of the activities are based outdoors. There is STRICTLY NO mobile phones or electronic equipment (eg smart watches) permitted. No use of phones to take photos will be allowed. Any phones/ smart watches found will be confiscated and returned at the completion of the camp.
Parent Information Night
This year we will be holding a Parent Information session for each level on Wednesday 14th February with each year level presenting their information at both 6 pm and 6:45 pm allowing parents to attend more than one year level’s presentation if they have more than one child. The teachers will cover a range of information that is relevant to their level. Each session will last approximately 30 minutes.
An announcement will be put over the speaker to advise parents when the first session is finished so they can move to the second session. Families with 3 or more children can decide which 2 sessions they attend.
Interschool District Swimming Sports
The South Central Swimming sports will take place on Monday 19th February. A team to represent our school will be selected following the Grade 3-6 swimming trials. Please note that only a small group of children are chosen to represent the school.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Parent Teacher Interviews will be on March 6th. This will be an opportunity for YOU, as parents, to tell us about your child’s strengths, passions, social competencies and areas to be worked on. Further information will be sent out via Operoo closer to the date. School will finish early at 1pm on this day to allow for the interviews.
Prep- Year 4 Swimming Program
The Prep-Year4 Swimming program will commence on Tuesday 20th February and will run daily until Friday 1st March, with the exception of Wednesday 28th February. More information will be forwarded to parents via Operoo in the coming days.
School Advisory Council Meeting
The first meeting for the School Advisory Council (SAC) meeting will be on Tuesday 27th February commencing at 6:30pm in the staffroom. Only those who are part of this committee may attend. The SAC acts as an advisory body to the Parish Priest and Principal on matters relating to the education of the children at St Mary’s.
Parents and Friends Ice Breaker Drinks
The Parents and Friends will be hosting a Welcome to the School Year Drinks on Friday 9th February.

School Photos
School Photos will take place on Thursday 14th March. Details regarding how families can order photos will be forwarded closer to the date. Children are to wear their full summer uniform, including their jumper, on photo day. If sport is scheduled for photo day, the children can bring their runners and change after the photos.
Open Days 2024
We will hold our open days on Tuesday 5th March and Tuesday 23rd April from 9:00-3:00 pm. As the number of enrolment places rapidly fill for 2025, we encourage our community to continue to spread the good word and ensure prospective families are aware and don't miss out on one of the two Open Day sessions this term. Our parents and students remain the greatest advocates and we welcome this support in promoting our fantastic school.
School Closure Day
School will be closed on Friday 8th March for the staff to attend professional development.
NAPLAN Testing 2024
Naplan testing for Years 3 and 5 will take place from Wednesday 13th March to Friday 15th March. The children in Years 3 and 5 will be tested in Reading, Writing, Spelling, Grammar and Punctuation, and Mathematics.
School Athletic Sports Day
The school athletic sports will take place for Grades Prep-6 on Friday 22nd March at Sandringham Athletic Track from 9:30 am until 1:00pm. Sam Sullivan will need the assistance of parents on the day and will send out information in relation to this closer to the date.
Easter Liturgy
On Thursday 28th March we will hold our annual Easter Liturgy with all classes involved in these events. More details will be forwarded closer to the date.
