New ASPS STEM Program

The new specialist STEM program at ASPS engages students in immersive and hands-on learning experiences. The program compliments to schools POI and provides an additional opportunity for students to engage with different aspects of the Victorian Science Curriculum. It is designed to integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, with a focus on inquiry-driven projects.

We have been having some light bulb moments in STEM - literally!
We have been having some light bulb moments in STEM - literally!

The program emphasises critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaborative skills. Students explore real-world challenges, conduct experiments, and apply their knowledge to practical situations. This specialist STEM program aims to make students more aware of the science, technology, engineering and mathematics around them everyday and prepare students for future interactions with and careers in STEM.

In first semester students in ears 3-6 will be exploring electric circuits, magnetic forces, chemical changes and programable technologies.

This term, Years 3-6 are looking at the transfer of energy and started by designing dragons that fly by transferring potential energy to kinetic energy. We are now looking at electrical circuits. We will continue to experiment and design with different circuits, switches and motors throughout the term."

LANDSCAPING PROJECT UPDATE

Our Tooronga Rd / Main Wing landscaping project is tracking well with our crazy paving and cubby base structure now in place. Keep an eye on this area as the edging, wallaby-grass gathering place, boulders and planting will be happening next!

ACCESSIBILITY & INCLUSION WORKS STARTING SOON!

The school has been working closely with the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) in identifying all of our non-compliant accessible ramps and access points across our campus and campaigning for their removal and reconstruction.

We're excited to announce that we have secured just under ½ million dollars of government funding for the works which are scheduled to begin in March.

At Auburn South we are very passionate in creating accessible & inclusive places, programs and infrastructure for our all of our students, staff and community members. This is very exciting news!
