Principal’s Report

As we continue to nurture an environment where every student can thrive, Belmont High School is excited to announce a significant shift towards a School-Wide Positive Behaviour approach. This initiative is not just a change in policy but a reflection of our core belief that every student has the potential to contribute positively to our community.

Why a Positive Behavior Approach?

Research and experience have shown us that focusing on positive behaviors can lead to an inclusive, supportive, and more effective learning environment. By recognising and celebrating the good, we inspire all our students to strive for their best, not out of fear of reprimand but from a desire to contribute to a community that values positivity and mutual respect.

Capturing Positive Chronicles

A key component of this new approach is our commitment to capturing and celebrating positive behaviors. This means that instead of only noting when things go wrong, we are equally, if not more, dedicated to recognising when our students do right. Whether it's acts of kindness, perseverance in the face of challenges, or collaborative efforts, we want to acknowledge and celebrate these moments. Hopefully parents are seeing an increase in the positive chronicles that are being posted on Compass.

School Tours

We are now offering school tours on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 9.30am. Although the tours have been organised for prospective students and their families, current families of Belmont High School are welcome to attend these tours. If you would like to join one of our tours, you can make a booking by visiting our website, or by clicking on this link. Bookings will be open up until mid-May.

School Council Election and Ballot

Thank you to the parents who nominated for School Council. The ballot information was mailed on 14th February.  Voting closes at 4pm on Monday 26th February. Many thanks for those who have already submitted their ballot paper.

School Camps

The school encourages parents to consider taking out travel insurance for school camps as schools often incur a cancellation fee that we are not able to absorb if your child is forced to withdraw due to unforeseen circumstances.

Annual Report Presentation and School Council Annual General Meeting

It is a legislative requirement that all Victorian government schools prepare an Annual Report each year and share this with their community. This year, I will be sharing the 2023 report with the Belmont High community on Tuesday 21st March at 6.00pm. Following the presentation, we will be holding the School Council Annual General Meeting. All community members are invited.
